Age is getting the better of me, I forgot to mention my jet boats. 14 alumaweld sprint racer 320 hp 16 jetcraft sprint boat 70 mph hull Looks like the trend is we have had more than one boat and less boats than motorcycles. Does that make us biker boaters? Keep em coming I see...

    19 & 22 Angler Fans

While underway the 22a has seating for 2. I have had 3 and 4 aboard but the door was open and guests were standing. 3 or 4 fishing is a full house and it is more enjoyable with only 2 fishing. Soon I will have a boat load of grandkids to take fishing. This will be interesting.

    6.5 magnitude earthquake

I reported on tsunami tread something like this. It was a roller. I was in my shed target shooting and all of a sudden it felt like someone was trying to push the building over. Still confused I looked over at the boat and it was bouncing on its trailer. Earthquake! No real problems, not even...

    Tsunami

Yeah it was a roller. It felt like someone was trying to push over my shed. I was target shooting. Still confused, I looked over at the boat and it was bouncing on the trailer. Then I realized it was an earth quake. I was high and dry and decided not to go check out the surf. Wife called...

San Diego CG vessel collides with Sea Ray, killing 1

Vessel looks like a modified safe boat with one more engine. The 25' safe boat is overall 33 feet and with typical power is capable of 50 mph. A very capable boat and it handles well at slow speeds also.

    Bottom Paint

A bottom painted boat parked on a yard will kill the grass under it while the paint is becoming less effective for its intended purpose.

San Diego CG vessel collides with Sea Ray, killing 1

One thing for certain is I run slower at night than during the day. Lights are very confusing at night when everywhere you look there are lights. Foreground lights get confused with background lights. Sounds like the CG vessel had 6 watches. I can't relate this incident to a chase on land...

    Regelcoating the cockpit deck.

Sark I did not know the cockpit has gel coat. I see an awful lot of weave which does not look like a gel coat finish. I also have a spatter type of paint finish below the gunnel that goes to the gray deck color. All the smooth shiny surfaces on the rest of the boat is gel coat. The grey...

    Washington State Tax Question

I did a Wa resident tax return (federal) and was surprised to see the sales tax rate is applied to real estate transactions at the sellers expense. So a $400000 sale had a tax of around $32000. You will need lots of appreciation to recover the tax. Calif sales tax has not been applied to real...

Small boat first aid box, safety box and ditch bag

Good carry advice. Thanks Bob I will print this and go over my list with this update. I am especially inadequate on the first aid kit, although I do have a packaged kit on board. I am usually a day boater, so I don't see the need for the firearms. But if I were doing a trip I would be packin...

    Here's to Miss Priss

Sorry for your loss. I know how difficult it can be. My Boston Daisy just left us for doggie heaven a few days ago. I hope Miss Priss and Daisy are comfortable. I still have visions of Daisy waiting for me to feed her in the morning. All she provided to my family was lots of love and...

A good reason NOT to wear a life jacket in a C Dory

Before I get underway I get a life jacket out of the bow for everyone. If they are kids they are on. If they are adults the jackets are placed out on my overhead rack system off the rod holders very accessible from the cockpit. My thowable is also on the rack. Never hurts to show a little...

    Flotsam galore!

Commercial fishermen were setting pots yesterday. In the beginning you really need to maintain a watch and slow down because between buoys and floating line its snarly. We get the debris after storms. The stuff accumulated on the river banks gets it annual flush after high water. It can be...

    stern thruster idea

To practice, in a clear area toss a buoy overboard and do approaches to it. My twins placed dead ahead can control direction with throttle. Either docking or underway. Never tried the trim tabs to turn.

    This Dinghy Flies

There are a couple of flyers here that enjoy our coastline. One is a parachute type mounted to a seat with a motor and the other has a platform with wheels. It sure looks fun. One pilot I was talking with says that you have to be able to accept death in a mishap. Oh well, I will stick with...

CG 47' MLB training from a different angle

My surfing experience would not have me getting a boat sideways in the surf zone. Every time they were not going straight into it the boat got turned and rolled excessively. And every time they punched straight thru they had better control and no rolling. Maybe thats why they called it...

    Building a Better Boat Shelter

I have a building from U S Steel. 20x30 x16. I left one end open so I use it like a car port. I have no height issues even with my radar mounted on the roof rack. I also get the trailer completely in the building. Next to it sits my sports car and a jet ski trailer with skis and behind all...
