How Far Did You Travel To Buy Your C-Dory?

We purchased our 22 and 25 from the Seattle area, about a 5k mile round trip from Anchorage AK. The 22 was uneventfully, pulled fine and didn't shift on the trailer. The 25 was a nightmare by comparison. The 25 had less then an inch clearance between the hull and fenders, I was constantly...

Your Experiences - single with kicker | single w/o kicker

Almost 2000 single outboard hours on two C-dorys over 12 years, the only time I ran the kicker was to see if it worked. My first C-dory was owned by a Coast Guardsman who thought it unnecessary to have a kicker. Fact is I didn’t add one tell the 3rd year.

    Wallas Stove not working

If you haven’t tried already, unplug everything you can find, work back and forth a few times and plug back in. The pump will make a distinctive thump if it’s working, the pulse my be too short to pick up on a voltmeter. If all else fails I would pull and ship back to Scan Marine in Seattle...

    boiling water

We used a Coleman PowerPack Propane Stove, would heat a large pot of water and didn’t break the bank. We kept as a backup in case the Wallas pooped out, It's low profile and stable. https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-PowerPac ... uage=en_US

Where to mount a 5hp inflatable engine on my C-Dory stern.

Hung my Suzuki 3.5 over the railing inside of the cockpit, worked fine for us. Think I placed a robber mat or something around the skeg so not to damage the cockpit glass. Didn’t know if you intended to use the 5hp for a kicker, that wouldn't work than.

    wallis blower not working

Things to consider: 1. If you’re not cooking or don't have something on the stove, shut it down until you get the lid fixed; over heating can damage the unit. The guys at Scan Marine told me the Eco-Fan doesn’t dissipate enough heat and the heat shield will eventually get damaged. They said...

    Windlass jam C-Dory 25 Lewmar

If your windless is a 700 chain must be 1/4" G4 or 1/4" BBB, if however it's a 1000 than 5/16" G4 or BBB. Any other type of chain will cause you problems. If line is pilling up in the anchor locker the chain may be bunching up under the windless, had this happen a couple of times. Your gypsy...

    Rode storage

We didn't place the anchor on deck it was secure in the anchor roller. Yea, you need to watch the line when underway and if rough seas are encountered we'd bring it all back in the cockpit or feed down the tube, but it would have to be really rough out and that only happened once or twice.

    Rode storage

This is exactly how we handled our anchor line/chain set up on the 22. With the chain lying on top of the rode it remained secure, some would say not so good, but we made out fine this way. We never let the line dry just dropped in the locker wet, that's what the drain if for and we had to...

    Grounding plastic fuel tank???

Heed the part that reads: Seek professional help if you our unsure of procedure! You might reach out to a marine mechanic you trust for clarification. Would also think the tank manufacture would have some advice.

First multi day trip of the year

It’s always something, sounds like you’re on track to get things worked out. We spent over a decade exploring every cove, bay, bite and passage in PWS, and even managed to hit a few uncharted rocks. Seems I was always fixing, modifying, upgrading and maintaining our boats, one reason we’ve...

Moving ashore after 7 years of living aboard

Wow, that’s just crazy! Could never imagine living in such a small space for so many years; I congratulate you both! Sometime less is more, simpler better than complex, use the KISS method and so on. An inspiration for sure. Will you be joining the tiny house movement now? :D
