These guys do an admirable job of salvaging a humbling experience. I imagine there was some good natured ribbing that took place that will last for someone's career. As a firefighter, I was involved in a very similar scenario. Myself and another were placing a 500 gal. Jet A fuel trailer on a remote and steep backcountry airstrip for a spring helicopter project. We parked the trailer and I removed the safety chains. We decided to reposition the trailer a few feet so I did not bother with the safety chains. Just like the video, the trailer lifted off the hitch and headed down hill towards a house. In an rather foolish attempt to turn a 5,000 lb. trailer excellerating to mach1, I tried to push the trailer tongue sideways to turn it. My wedding band hung up on the trailer tongue and it dragged me a ways down the hill. Fortunately, I got loose before the whole works hit a boulder which popped the tires and stopped everything before hitting the house. My partner that day still thinks the whole thing is funny. Never remove the safety chains...
