You can run from the police...

There is video up on CNN as well and it ocurred not far from where I live. The CNN video has a bit more detail including an interview with the dealer. The guy that stole the boat has bought boats from the dealership before and wanted this boat. Unfortunately, it had already been sold and the electronics had been added. The guy wanted the dealer to sell him the boat anyhow and get a new boat for the guy who had purchased it. When the dealer refused, the guy got in a huff, hooked his truck up to the boat and got on I-95 northbound. The dealer called 911 and the rest is on the tape. That will be an interesting insurance claim!

Then he's MONUMENTALLY STUPID and will, hopefully, get what he deserves.

Yup, and hitting speeds reported to be as high as 95MPH (65 zone) did not help either!

The guy I really feel bad for is the new owner who probably had such anticipation for his new boat and plans for it.

Shoulda' come on down to Redding where they race at the Fairgrounds on the dirt track towing old boat trailers around, trying to wipe each other out with the trailer as a weapon.

Woulda' had a great advantage with a triple axle trailer and a 10,00 lb Whaler to roll 'em over with!

Joe. :thup

Who's going to have to pay? Dealer or new owner. Was it a completed deal? Is it still the dealers until delivered? I would guess if the papers were signed, the new owner gets the claim.

Indeed.

"Uh, hi...Mr. Jones? Uhmmmm, we have a...a...little problem with your new boat..."

Cantankerous Wave (Website) must be buzzing tonight. When a Whaler goes down...but didn't sink it's a day to celebrate.

I do feel for the owner and the dealer who have to pick up the pieces of this werdo's actions.

On the other hand this guy will most likely be back on the water by next boating season to show us act two. Like stealing a car from the marina and towing it away with his old boat...down the channel.
