Wisconsin Lakes Minocqua and Tomahawk

As we sit here in the Midwest deep freeze, I'm thinking about next summer's boating. I'll start my summer out with a trip towing the boat out to the San Juans, but later in the summer I'd like to explore more locally on Lake's Minocqua and Tomahawk. Was wondering is anyone has any information about these lakes for launching, overnighting, marina facilities, etc. Thanks in advance. Colby

I brought up Active Captain and did not find those lakes, BUT there is a lot of markers on almost every lake I found showing ramps,Marina's and other info.

I have been going to the Minocqua area since family vacations in the 50's. I went there with my family in the 80-90's. It is a beautiful area and I highly recommend it. There are plenty of services. Bosaki's boathouse in Minocqua has fuel and are famous for their ice cream and restaurant. Lakeside bar and restaurant is on the narrows between lake Minocqua and Lake Tomahawk is a nice place with docks and I think they sell fuel. I still have a treasured tshirt from there. This is all from a feeble memory, I'm sure there is more. Be sure to make it into Little Tomahawk Lake . It is very pretty and not too developed.

While you are in the area you might consider the Eagle River Chain of Lakes. I think there are 33 lakes. There is a marine railway to haul your boat over a road.
Lots of services. Marinas,Taverns, Resturants, even golf courses accessible by boat. If you take the railroad, you can do all 33. It is part of the Wisconsin River.

Northern Wisconsin is a beautiful area. There are many many lakes and some are pretty good size and most all have public ramps.

Try the Chippewa Flowage near Hayward. I have not been there in a long..long time but here is a good chain of lakes and fishing there.
I spent many hours, days and weeks fishing there back in the late 50's early 60's.
If the logistics of getting my CD from Alaska to the midwest was a little easier I would do some exploring there.

I'll second the vote for Chippewa Flowage. I never towed my C-Dory down there yet but plan to. I have Muskie fished there a few times.
One other to consider is Lake Namakagon. Nice Lake and excellent bike trails adjacent in the forest…..If you like that sort of thing.

Lake Minocqua is a little to busy in the summer for my taste. Wisconsin has sooo many fantastic Lakes to visit. A few in Minnesota as well……
LAND OF 10,000 LAKES is says on there License plates I ask is that all?

Wisconsin has 14,927 Lakes over 10 acres.

One other Lake I really want to visit with my C-Dory is Trout Lake near Boulder Junction.

I may have been to Lake Namakagon, quite some time ago with a pontoon boat. But don't remember, as we towed that thing all over Wisconsin. There are many very nice lakes. Just I've never been on Lakes Minocqua or Tomahawk with a boat, and thought it would be nice to do so. But yeah, I know they are busy. I do also enjoy taking our bicycles along, so that is definitely good information for us. Colby
