A friend with the hvac business came by this morning to check out my plan. He had a good idea. A portable room a/c. These only have to be vented with a four inch piece of flex pipe. The unit is only 22"hx22"d and does not have a drain line. Coils in unit evaporate all condensation. Also has setting for dehu only. $299.00 plus shipping. Will run off a honda 1000 gen.

Are some of you missing the point made above about using a portable unit with an exhaust flex tube because it doesn't need a drain line because it evaporates the condensation water into the stream of outgoing hot air?

ON EDIT: I missed reading page two of this discussion when I wrote the above question. Can't simply delete it for some reason (no "X" choice).

This sounds interesting whats the brand?

Mounting the AC in the front window has the advantage of not blowing
hot air over cockpit. Also, the noise is up front. The obvious disadvantage
is that you can not run with the unit in place.

Unless you really want to run with the unit in place, I suggest you try using
it in the front window first. We stow it on the V, behind the helm. I have
a fiberglass helm backside, so I strap it to the cover. Even in really rough
water, it has never moved.

Consider getting the unit with temp. control. Most excellent to set the
thermostat to 74 and have it stay that way. No getting up in the middle
of the night because you are freezing to adjust.
