We are deciding when to head to the broughton and wanted to know who was heading up and when. we cant decide to go after bellingham or leave the following week after that.

So whats others plans.??

We are probably going north around the end of July to coincide with my retirement. But, we might roll up the west side of vancouver island to enjoy some serious fishing, otherwise desolation and the broughtons.

I plan on July 1 to be heading north. Perhaps a week in Desolation and the balance of the summer till early September in the Broughtons. I believe the Broughtons will be aswarm with C brats this summer. See you there. George

Our plan is to leave for SE Alaska in early May. We will return south to the Broughtons in August and remain in the Broughtons till Labor Day.

We would enjoy visiting with any C-Brats, so if you see our trawler Jacari Maru, stop by for a cup of coffee.

Now that the heart is healed up, I will be at Pierres @ Echo Bay again for the summer. Look forward to seeing some brats again !

We're planning to use Friday Harbor gathering as a jump off. Then north through the Gulf Islands (Buchart Gardens?), then across to Princess Louisa, Desolation Sound, back to Bellingham in early June. So that's 3 to 4 weeks of wandering. Waterfalls should still be flowing good then & (hopefully) the crowds won't be as large then.

We plan to head north from Anacortes, destination Alaska, leaving mid-May. Don't have the date nailed down yet.

Lori will be in Salt Lake during Friday Harbor but I will be there solo. Very unlikely that we will be back in WA in time for Bellingham. We hope to spend some time with various Brats as we pass through Desolation Sound and the Broughtons, both ways.

Nothing real firm scheduled yet, but New Moon will probably be launching at Prince Rupert, and cruising SE Alaska roughly early June through August.

Like Richard (New Moon), I'm planning to depart AZ about mid-May and wander North to Prince Rupert, with approximately a June 1st launch.

June/July/August are available so we'll see how long Katmai is actually on the water. Given the costs, I'll probably do a lot of slow travel and anchoring-out! The only constraint at the moment is that I plan to be back in AZ for the Powell CBGT in late September.

I'm getting Anxious!

Best,
Casey

Hey Casey!

If you're passing through Salt Lake on your way north, and need a break or a place to stay, you could stop by here in Holladay for a visit. I'll probably be here getting New Moon ready to go, just about any time in May after the 15th. Might be fun to compare notes and plans.

Richard,

I just got my (Walmart) atlas out to see where Holladay is ... Yep, right in SLC ! (Honestly, towing through SLC scared me almost as much as towing through Seattle (which try to do at 0400 on a Sunday).

I'll be in touch.

Best,
Casey

We will leave Sept 2nd for 2-3 weeks in the Broughtons or Barkley via water. We will see how the outer sea conditions are when we leave and decide between the two based on that. I have been visiting these areas by kayak for years in the early fall and it is very quiet while the weather is still quite nice. Best time to visit (outside of winter boys trip) in my 10 years of regular trips.
