Hi,
I need to take the white running light post off the top of the cabin of my 2003 22' cruiser. I loosened the plastic keeper and pulled, but the light post didn't budge. I assume that it is a plug in post and it should just lift out, but I don't know and don't want to break it. Anyone know how that comes out?

On my 16 Angler it just pulls out. If yours has been plugged in for a long time you may have some corrosion across the terminals. Go very easy with a slight rocking and pulling motion. If you can get a little wd40 around the edge of the socket as well. Next time mount with dielectric grease on the terminals and hub of socket. lots of luck

Sounds like you may have the same all-around light I do, the Perko 1209. (I have a 2002. ) Sort of a teardrop shaped chromed base, then upright plugs into it, and a black screw ring retains it.

If so, yes, it just pulls out. There are a couple of pins in the base that engage with holes in the bottom of the upright pole, so you won't want to twist it. Mine is a bit of a tug as well - enough so that I would not "just do it" without knowing that was how it was supposed to go.

Here are a few photos that show it better. BTW, if you don't already know this, you may have a round black plastic "plug" beneath the helm. That's a fitting you can screw the cap onto that goes onto the base fitting to keep weather out when the light is not mounted -- that's the two small black pieces shown to the left in the last photo, below. (And too there may be two black "pole holders" fastened to the underside of the port V-berth side deck to stow the pole/light in.)

BTW Its identical to mind -16- Angler after observing the photo -- remember a little weasel piss -er WD40 helps and as I said before dielectric grease - if not available-- Vaseline.
 
PB blaster is far better than WD 40 (a moisture dispersant), at loosening corrosions.

Agree with dielectric grease. Probably best to put the light up, only when you need it.
