where did most put heater exhaust thru hull?

Espar D-2 heater transversely mounted under helm seat where tiny refrigerator used to be. See thru hull installed. The large loop of wiring was extra coming from the binnacle control for the Yamaha outboard motor that I wanted up and out of the way.

I have some extra heater ducting left over im not sure the muffler will fit into it but i will give it a go. thanks

the thru hull is good with the rv seal and the washers on both sides of it should keep the gel coat protected.

This is the fiberglass sleeve the my Wallas comes with. At least, I think it is fiberglass. I may actually be some other fabric. Wallas would know for sure.
It does work quite well. Without it the exhaust pipe would quickly burn my hand but with it I could hold it several seconds before it got too hot. I don't know what sort of wrapping you used on yours but this one isn't tight fitting, just a bit loose fitting. I don't know if that makes a difference.

thanks for the replies, I went ahead and took my left over high heat ducting for my heater output. and put it over the existing wrap. excluding muffler(it was too big to fit in) and it does not get all that warm anyways. did a test run on it and looks like it will work good gets warm but not hot and can hold onto it for as long as i want. shouldn't be any concern with it now. thanks for the info and the tip Will-C

Same reason I never installed my muffler. I was told the did not really quiet them down much, the muffler just changed the tone.

a clamshell over the vent has also been used. just make sure it is a bit larger than you would normally use to allow for proper ventilation.

I just recently put our though the hull stripe toward the top. I figured more height couldn't hurt and and the position of the heater for us was variable and could compensate keeping enough uphill slope on the intake/exhaust. No clamshell just yet but might add that as well for insurance against water and wind.
