Where did C-Dory name come from?

Where did C-Dory name come from?

Does the “C” in C-Dory stand for something ?

Or Is the “C” in an attempt to be clever, another way to say “Sea” ?

My recollection from the stories told on here is this: The boats were originally called Hunky Dory, but that name was already in use by another boat builder so they had to drop it. There are still a couple of those boats around. Then they wanted to call it a Sea Dory, but that name was also in use. So they settled on C-Dory, and the rest is history.
