While out on an amazingly calm Pacific Ocean today we saw something weird a ways away in the water. We thought it was a seal tail at first and as it came towards us it got bigger and stranger. We were headed toward each other so we kicked the boat out of gear to watch. It was some sort of small whale and when it came up by the boat - partially under the boat - it was a neat sight. It's head looked to be as wide as the boat and out of proportion with it's length. I got my phone to take some pics but it was moving away by then. The pics are in this album. I just posted all I took even though the quality isn't so great. I wish I had a pic of how we first saw the thing under the boat. It was awesome. I think he was either sick, injured or lazy because he moved real slowly. We didn't follow or try to bother him much and he sort of drifted and swam off.
He was a lot bigger than he looks in this pic.
