What If...(CD-Venture 29 vs CD-27 Pilothouse vs. SeaSport 33

Sea Wolf

Just pure speculation, but in looking in Starcraft Tom's album for photos of his latest superhero rescue adventure (Another CD comic strip in the making?), I found a photo of a SeaSport 33 and noticed how strickingly similar it looked to the C-Dory Pilothouse 27, a custom one of a kind CD owned by Alviq.

My next thought was "whould would have happened if the Pilothouse 27 would have been updated on the interior and added to the C-Dory line instead of the Venture 29?"

I know there's a pretty big disparity in size between these three boats, and that bigger ones like these are selling less right now, but what if......

My personal feeling is that the 27 or even a 29 with 8' 6" beam and outboards-or if they had to--I/O option--including diesel--would have been a much better choice. But apparently they wanted to enter the diesel inboard field, a decision I would not agree with.

Interesting...the above Alaskan Pilot may be fitted with either i/o or twin ob power. With an 8'6" beam and a dry weight of 6350 lbs (less engine(s)?) it is trailerable but I bet it is tall. With a deadrise of 22 degrees it is no dory hull though.

Hi Folks,

I think it would be a big seller if it had sliding doors so you can get on the deck from the helmsman and pilot's seat. Other than that, it's a long way from helm to bow when you are picking up a mooring or sailing alone which many of us do.

Fred instead of side doors you just get the rear steering station. most of the tom cats have this option and it works well. the pilot house has came with a verity of engines. gas , diesel, twins, out boards. anything you want really.
