What boating magazines do C-Brats read? I want to find one or two that have articles covering the basics like maintenance and up-keep, how-to articles, destination reviews, electronics and gadgets, etc.

Any recommendations? (so I can ask for a subscription for Christmas)

Thanks,
john

I've been reading "Boat Trader" the most lately both to help price my boat and to search out what is available.... C.W.

Hi John,
I just resurrected a couple of previous threads about boating magazines that I located in the "search" engine.......hope this helps as a start).

Although it's geared towards owners/wannabee owners of larger trawlers, I love Passagemaker magazine. It has the types of articles and orientation you're looking for. I'd encourage you to pick one up at a newsstand and check for yourself. I ask my wife to renew my subscription every year at Christmas. I also like our local boating magazine NorWesting very much. Cheers! Mike.

I read the Canadian magazine "Pacific Yachting" focused on BC and the new "Pacific Yachting: Boating in the Pacific Northwest" focused on Washington/Oregon. Both are by the same publisher and IMHO head and shoulders above any other boating magazine I've seen. There are real, practical cruising, safety and maintenance articles in every issue. I read "Practical Sailor" for a while because of its technical articles and tests but it is too much a sailing magazine for me.
