What are your 2013 plans?

It seems to me that a nice thread at this time of year would be what many folks are planning for their trailer boating experiences for this year. Some of us may not be totally privat people and wouldn't mind those opportunities where cruise plans happen to cross with other Brats.

Due to the heavy snows we've experienced, I'll not be getting Still Crazy summerized for another month, about April 10th or so.

We will start our boating season around the middle of April with a trip to Lake Mojave in Nevada for about a week starting the 8th to celebrate my wife's birthday.

Then in June, our first of two trips to Lake Powell to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary during the week or ten days June 3d through the 13th.

Then we'll be heading back east for the Lake Erie trip. Unfortunately we will hit the hot weather because we have a family event in Palmyra NY on the 12th and 13th of July. We intend to be on the Erie, starting on the 8th and off the Erie on the 22nd, hitting Palmyra along the way. We will start on the Buffalo, NY end.

Then, during August we will head north to Jackson and Yellowstone Lake country and then on up to the two big north Idaho lakes that I can't spell, Pend Oreille and Coeur d' Alene or some such spelling. That should happen starting around August 14th through the 28th.

Finally we'll cap off the year with the fall Lake Powell gathering and another probable Lake Powell trip in mid October.

That will all be a very ambitious schedule for us, be we are going to try to actually be retired for a change. My wife finishes her last contract work on April 1, so we are going to try hard to have a lot of fun if it kills us...well, we don't want to go that far, I suppose.

Next year should see us working pretty hard to do the Sacramento Delta country, the Columbia river, San Diego/Mission bay, and Catalina Islands and a couple of trips to our wonderful Lake Powell.

All depends on health and money. Retirement guarantees us the time, but not necessarily the other two assets. So far, so good.

We hope all of the C-brats are going to have a great boating year in 2013.

Next week (2 weeks) -- South Carolina via Winnebago View

End of April -- CD22 in the slip in Sturgeon Bay

June (4 weeks) -- Quebec, East Coast, New York City, etc via Winnebago View

August (2 weeks) -- North Channel via CD22 (planning on taking it on it's own bottom from Sturgeon Bay and have the family meet me there with the truck/trailer)

December (2 weeks) -- ?? via Winnebago View

Many little trips out of our Sturgeon Bay slip. Last year we bought the View, so the boat stayed in storage - so this year I'll make up for it.

mostly hanging around on Missouri River...and Mississippi River...perhaps down to the big lakes in Missouri...the waters you describe require much driving for me...although I would love to see them...they need to wait until I am 'fully retired'...I hope to get to Lake Michigan (Green Bay) and maybe also Apostle Islands and Isle Royale in Superior...

Susan and Harry congratulations on your upcoming 49th anniversary!

Sounds like a great schedule for this year/season!

We will not be taking the C Dory out West this summer--and this is unusual for us. C Dory for Central US and Florida. Probably more RV touring--but as Harry notes, that depends on finances--fuel costs.

We had planned an ambitious trip East this summer: Drive from WA to Ontario, BC then Trent Severn, Rideau, Lake Champlain, Hudson to NYC and back up to the Erie then out at Buffalo and back to WA. But Parks Canada is vastly increasing moorage and lockage costs and with Canadian fuel at $6 or more we just decided it was too expensive (not to mention 5,000 miles of towing at 10MPG) so...we'll be in home waters: San Juan Islands, Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound, and the Broughtons, except for a maybe trip to Yellowstone Lake.

Speaking of fuel costs I was very pleasantly surprised with the MPG I got going to Baja and back with the Duramax hauling the big Arctic Fox camper -- low was about 9 while climbing mountains but I got as high as 14 and my overall average was about 12.5. It was usually about 10 pulling the Tom Cat, no camper. It will be interesting to see how adding the 22 out back will affect the mileage because the camper provides most of the air resistance.

My plans for the summer are to put the boat in the water at Neah Bay on June 15 and pull it out on Sept. 15th. I'll be fishing out there very opportunity I get and will spend a 1 week in August out there centered around the peak of the Perseid meteor showers. This year I hope to go from being OK at tuna fishing to being slightly better than mediocre (maybe even approaching good). Of course with my boat out there, I'll miss a lot of summer C-Brat gatherings. However, as long as there are fish to be had, they keep calling me more strongly than the CBGT's do. Hopefully I can talk a brat or two into making the trip out to Neah with their boat(s).

Another summer wandering around SE Alaska, launching at Prince Rupert. If all goes well, maybe a week or two at Lake Powell in the fall.

We just returned from a tour of the Florida for over a month seeing the Keys,Key West, Marathon, Key Largo and trip over to Cape Haze on the west coast of Florida. We hit an amazing stretch of weather. We plan on doing the normal New Jersey shore weekends fishing and and staying on the boat.
In August we will head up north about 600 miles for New Brunswick, Ca. with five other boats to go up the St. John river to Fredericton and back down thru the reversing falls to the city of St.John. This river is called the Rhine of North America Lucky for us, we have a customer with some property along the river with a launch ramp, mooring balls and a dinghy dock who is letting us stay there at no charge. So the trip besides getting there and back the trip should be fairly inexpensive. Except for the Canadian gas.

I'm planning on going around Vancouver Island. Probably departing in early June, spending 2-3 weeks heading north on the inside, then 5-6 weeks on the outside.

Wow, that's an adventure, for sure. I've signed up for email alerts from your blog, so please blog early and blog often!

Well we plan to hit the Friday harbor, La conner and Sydney gatherings this year. Other then that I plan to fish and cruise our local waters a lot more then I did last year. This is a Pink salmon year with a very large return planned. Silvers are also suppose to be coming in larger numbers this year. I Plan to fish a lot but I also plan to hunt in eastern Washington a bit this year.

Only thing we know for sure is we will make the Friday Harbor CBGT, the rest will depend on progress on getting house on the market, aiming for June 1 now, and how long it takes to sell. Quick sale, maybe a boating vacation, otherwise we don't want to be too far out of touch when the realtor is trying to reach us!

Lake Powell for a couple of weeks starting the19th or 20th of April. Then Nootka Sound on Vancouver Island the last week of July thru the first week of August ( the costliest part of that trip will be the ferry ride out and back) and then Yellowstone Lake the latter part of August. Summers are just too darn short in this neck of the woods.

1) Penobscot Bay, Maine during the last week of August.

2) Chicago, IL during first week of June.
This trip is intriguing to me since I enjoyed the view of NYC while going around Manhattan Island so much. Many buildings and bridges to see in Chicago from the water. I don't find much info on this cruise - but that makes for adventure.

Potter Water,

I'm a bit confused by your Lake Erie plans. Are you going to be on the lake itself? The areas you mention are on the canal. I only ask because if you are on Lake Erie perhaps we can get together and I could show you the attractions in the Western Basin.

Regards,

We had planned to accompany Barry and Patti in Canada and the eastern US this summer. We came to the same conclusion on the costs so plans change. This year we will go to the Delta/SF gathering in May, maybe back to Catalina in August. We will make as many trips to Lake Powell as possible. We only live 3 hours from Bullfrog Bay.

The cost of gas has declined here in Texas (our winter home) by 10 cents/gal this week, hopefully a trend that continues nationwide. We leave for Utah in 3 weeks.

That is essentially the same for us although our current target date for listing the house is Memorial Day -- essentially the same as yours. But as soon as the house sells we are off to Salt Lake to buy or build our new "fall & spring" house.

Hmmm...all of my Erie topics were meant to mean, only the canal this year. I don't plan on being on the big lake unless we make a last minute choice to do so.
