BTW make sure you attach the registration numbers correctly with spacing. Looking forward to seeing you at FH.

Awaiting the temp reg papers from the title company, so I don't even know the numbers to order. :| I read the regs. They said either spacing or "-" could be used. Correct? I'm going w/ spaces. I'm just a curious guy. And isn't there a year "tab" sticker that goes with it?

Mark, I just viewed the pix of your new 25' safely tucked away next to your house. She's looking good. Again, congratulations!

Thanks, Dave. She fit fine, except on the overall length. The RV parking is 33' overall; if I backed it in enough to get the tounge off the sidewalk, I'd back the engine nearly right up to the gate, which accesses my back yard. :x Doing so would make the gate nearly useless. About 1' +/- sticks over the sidewalk. Guess I'll eventually have to look into a folding trailer tounge; liability you know. For now I've got two traffic cones covering it.

I've also got to locate some place to park my enclosed car hauler, which for now is parked NEXT TO the boat. I need a bigger driveway.

Yes Mark, most people just leave a space. And you will be getting the annual excise stickers also. They have the directions on the back for where it goes. On the port side it goes after the reg number and on the starboard side it goes before the number. They run from 7/1 to 6/30 every year. Mine for the 2005 25 this coming year is $328.25.

Also keep in mind that this boat qualifies for a second home as far as the IRS is concerned. Interest can be written off as well as the excise tax.

Mark, while we are in the process of attempting to help you SAVE $ since you just spent a bit of $ for your new C-Dory.....don't forget to keep all of your boat fuel receipts, so you can submit them to the State of Washington for a refund of the "road use tax". (Seeing as how the boat fuel isn't propelling the boat on the state's highways!.. ).

You can accumulate up to 13 months of receipts. I usually submit them for my refund every 12 months. After you first send in the receipts and the required form, the state will mail you a tax exempt number that you can use at marina fuel stations that honor them at the time of fill up and don't charge the tax at that time. However, for me, I just keep all my receipts whether they are from marina fuel stations or land fuel stations and mail them in.

The best part of the "second home" write off and the fuel tax refund is that you can say to Meredith....."Look Honey, I've saved a chunk of money with our new boat!" :wink .

Now we knew about the interest tax write-off for the "second residence" and confirmed it w/ our tax preparer, but I DID NOT know about the fuel tax rebate. Thanks, Dave. Can you PM me with the info I'll need. Without making this "political", I think our gov't (State and Federal) wastes too much of my/our tax money already, so any of my money I get back interests me VERY MUCH.
