:D My wife and I made an offer on the new 2007 25' Cruiser that Matt over @ Kitsap Marine had for sale.

I havent' really commented until I knew for sure the financing would go through. Call me superstitious.

I just got off the phone with the bank: we're approved. :thup There's some paperwork, title etc that must be completed prior to taking delivery, but; from seeing my first C-Dory at Everett Marina back in 2006, then locating this site, to lurking/posting for a few years as a "wanna-be" owner...we are finally getting it!

We're very excited!! My wife and I look forward to meeting everyone face to face, exploring the PNW and enjoying our new boat with family and friends.

WARNING: Be prepared for MANY stupid questions.

Congratulations Mark-- you are on longer a "lurker"-- you are now an "Owner"--- that's a great step up :thup
Hope you have many wonderous hours-days-weeks-months-YEARS using your boat.

Aloha by way of hello and welcome.
I trust your boat name will be replete with vowels and will be followed by useful tips on how to pronounce it.

We ARE considering going w/ a Hawai'ian name, but I obviously have to get approval from the first mate.

OK, lesson #1 - If you are the Captain, SHE is the Admiral...I don't know how Steve gets away with "First Mate Kath" but for a long, happy boating career, you do need to remember the proper chain of command!

And congrats!

Congrats of the new boat. When you get her give me a call so I can come take a look. You live just up the hill aways. The Everett ramp is a great place to launch for the north sound. Are you going to use her just to fish or to cruise? If you like to crab I will start you off with a free pot to get you going. I will be hitting the water more as shrimp, crab and salmon get here. I hope you will join a gathering so you can have a proper naming of your new ride..

Congratulations Bra! Now you can post some pictures so we can finally put a face to a name. And you'll love the Suzuki, we love our 90hp.

Welcome to the owner's club!

Mark, congratulations! I'm extremely happy for you. I know you've been chompin' at the bit a long time for this moment. :thup

Mark,

Great news. Congratulations. I recommend you come to the Friday Harbor gathering in May. Gatherings are the best way to meet everybody, see what modifications they've made to their boats and of course...gossip.

By the way, I think I met your brother at the Bremerton marina. He was extremely helpful to me there, I can only assume it was because you trained him. :)

If you can make Friday Harbor, or any other gathering, just go to the event signups at the top of the page and signup.

Welcome to the obsessive/compulsive C-dory world!

It's hard for me to tell if that was Pat Anderson kissing up to Patty again or if that was Patty mouthing off and trying to sink my whole deal.

Point #1. The always sharp as a tack and supportive Kathleen, does not read my postings here.
Point #2. This one is hard to admit. Kathleen gives freely of any title in lew of the true power which a title cannot convey.
Alas, I am her humble servant. Yes dear. I'm cleaning the boat dear. Making it better. Managing the boat slush fund...I mean budget.

OK I better stop. :smiled

Congratulations Mark and family!

As you know, we think the CD-25 is "just right"... perhaps even No Ka O'i. :D The best welcome I can give you is: we hope you enjoy yours as much as we have been enjoying ours! We'll be looking forward to lots of reports and photos as well as your questions.

As far as the chain of command... you can be what you want and your wife can be the 1st Mate or the Admiral. However, the best arrangement I have ever seen was when a wife bought a jacket for her husband that said "Captain"... and hers said "Owner"!!! The most important thing is for you two to be a TEAM. While I have single-handed Wild Blue, it's always more fun when we're both on board and enjoying our time together.

Exciting times ahead!

Aloha,
Jim & Joan B.

Big mahalo to all of you.

I will do that and take you up on your offer. We intend to USE her. My wife, Meredith, and I will cruise and intend to take our beautiful grandaugther with us. I fished occasionally back home, but know nothing about catching salmon, halibut etc. That said, I intend to learn what I can. We love seafood (fish, clams, crab...) and I smoke salmon every year, so now that we have the boat coming...

I know you've been chompin' at the bit a long time for this moment.
Yeah, Dave...I have. But we wanted to wait until Meredith was done with RN school before taking the plunge. I actually hadn't intended to get one just yet, but when this boat surfaced (pun intended) I had to at least look.

Yes, he said he met you. Fortunately, he knows WAY more about boats & boating than I do. He's sailed since he was about 18 or so and is on his 3rd boat (each one bigger & nicer than the last). He's the one who took us up to the San Juans and infected my wife with the boating bug. He's done a couple of crossings, although now primarily conentrates on the Sound, San Juans and Gulf Islands. He's got a new 35 ft Pretoria he's working on and he intends to sell his 30 footer when it's done. We've even talked about Alaska as a "some day" trip.

I may just try to attend the Friday Harbor event.

Thanks to people like DaveS and Chris (Seahooked) who took the time to give me tours of their boats in the beginning, and the one on one input of people like Jim (Wild Blue) who actually had 25's we knew it would be just a matter of time until we got one. The adventure is just beginning. The only negative is I now won't have as much time to spend with my collector VWs and friends in that community come summer, but I can live with that.

I mentioned something similar to Jeff Messmer when we ordered Wild Blue. I said, "I'm concerned that my sailing friends will disown me."

He replied, "You'll make new friends."

As it turned out, our sailing buddies were quite curious about the C-Dory. I'd bet that you'll find out your VW friends will be hoping for an invite for a boat ride. :D

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Mark, I'm guessing that many C-Brats have owned VW's at some time in their lives. I owned a '64 bug while in the military and stored it in my folks garage when I went to Viet Nam. When, I returned I traded it in for a new '67 bug and was able to come up with the full purchase price with the money I stashed during my tour in V.N........there wasn't a lot of reason or opportunity to spend money there, so I only drew $30 of my paycheck monthly and the rest went home into a savings account.

Often times I've considered the C-Dory to be similar to the old VW bugs as the VW bug was a no frills, utilitarian, efficient, inexpensive to operate, dependable and the word we've all heard with our C-Dorys...."cute" vehicle!

(My wife had a VW bug back in the days and hers was spray painted with a multitude of colors from spray cans.....quite possibly there was a flower or two plastered on it...

...by that time I was thundering down the road on my Harley chopper in the Southern California sunshine... )

Music roll....... :note Born to be Wild :note

Great news Mark! I know you've been looking for quite a while and now it looks like that waiting has paid off. A great boat for a great price. You can't ask for much more than that.

Congrats to Mark and Matt . Thats great news . Mark enjoy that boat , and this great family .Matt , good on ya . Can I come Halibut fishing ?
Marc

Congrats Mark! If you've got stupid questions, I can guarantee I've got stupid answers! I'm sure you'll get many years of enjoyment out of the boat. Hopefully, you can join me and others on some fishing trips this summer.

Fishing...sure. I just have to learn PNW techniques/equipment etc.

MMMM, halibut. :smilep My wife turned me on to that delicious white fish after we met. I had never had any prior to moving up here. I know; what was I raised in a cave? In my defense, I have had a lot of Ono, Mahi Mahi, Ahi, Aku, Kawakawa etc.

My wife and I talked about naming the boat tonight. I proposed a couple of possible names; she picked the one she liked. The "admiral" has spoken, but I think she knew I liked both.

We've agreed on: 'AU KAI. Roughly translated, it means "Ocean Traveler".

She's in charge of the final design as she has a degree in graphic arts.

More to follow...
