West Marine Price Match

I'm curious. The last time I tried that at west marine, they added shipping to the price and wanted to charge that. I pointed out the internet doesn't charge tax, but that didn't fly. Did they add shipping for you (and charge tax on the whole thing?) That makes the internet even cheaper.

They did charge shipping, but only $15 to Alaska USPS. In the lower 48 states you can pickup at WM store with no shipping I understand.
No charge for tax, no State sales tax in Alaska or Anchorage.

Hi there the price match is on identical in stock items.
in the lower 48 generally includes shipping or at least ship to your nearest store. Tax wouldn't be charged if going out of state. ie California warehouse out to Washington.
If coming to Canada shipping and customs clearance is charged. It's best to let the store bring it in for you.
I've been asked over the years for a price match and had to respond..." you want me to go that high?" The price match policy is a good one to safeguard customers and it does pay to ask, you just need the info on where you saw the offer. Ebay and auctions don't count.

I purchased tons of stuff using the price match deal...and yes they charge me California sales tax...I live in California and understand the law... but I never have had to add anything for shipping....I think some WM store managers just do some things differently.

What I would like....is for them to give a military discount like Home
Depot and Lowes gives....it's 10% and has saved me a ton buying stuff...all you need is your military ID card....for active, reserve and retired members..... I love discounts !!

The other SMOKING deal is the California Bear pass....almost no one knows of this one....not the same as the Golden Passport the feds have...This one is good for California parks and fee areas.... all the beach parking is a fee area and it runs anywhere from $5 to $10 a day..all free when you have this pass....I walk my dogs at the beach and hate to pay the fee for 1/2 hour of parking...yet the fine is stiff...so this state pass is perfect.

California Bear Pass forms are available on line...you need to be 62 or elder vintage... and cost $5 if you can claim a disability or $10 if you just want cheap parking...

Wondering if there is a similar program in Washington? If so what is it called?

Warren, I don't know about an "all encompassing" program, but I can share with you that the next time you launch at the Everett Launch Ramp an "oldtimers" pass is available in the marina office. I'm uncertain what the "senior" age is, but I've had one for a couple of years. It allows free launch and parking during the week. (You have to pay like everyone else on the weekends). You also have to request one each year.
