We're All One Big Happy Family

Been gone a couple days, and I missed quite a bit. I didn't miss much on this thread, though. It's plain ridiculous. This site has always been open to CC owners and anyone else who wanted to be a part of it. And a guy has to try pretty hard to be uninvited. No gloss there.

If you're thinking we should set up dedicated forums and albums for every brand of boat represented by our members, please don't make the suggestion. It would be a logistic nightmare, require the Google guys to have more page space than the C-Dory guys, and would take away too much from who we want to be.

Whew, I thought you might kick me off when I revealed I was a Cape Cruiser cousin.

Naw, we even let lawyers and Mac owners in here. Welcome aboard, Andrew.

Our introduction to C-Dory came by way of the Three Rivers Marina and a ride on a CC-23. First time ever at the wheel of a power boat, and turned out what we wanted was more than what we could swallow, so John suggested we keep an eye out for a used C-Dory. "The Rest of the Story", as Paul Harvey would say, turned into a blessing beyond belief for us. I still think the CC is very well made. I also agree that anyone that can "Be Nice" should be allowed to join here. Welcome to Alan and Linda, AndrewJ, and the new and lurking CC crews out there. :hug :hug2 :hug :hug2 and thanks to the C-Brat crews that keep this site up, running and organized :thup :thup :thup .

Thanks, now I can finally come clean.
I've been lurking along this site long before I found a boat.
My 16 Angler (Boi-C-State) was purchased after my first Tolandcraft (but prior to attending the greatest college football game ever played, a totally indefensible personal opinion); CAMAMITY is a 26' CC, hull #6.
Wow, I feel like I just graduated from rehab.
I will try to be nice and can hardly wait to see the reincarnation of the CC's. I've followed the reports of C-dory's business changes here with interest and I think they are suffering the same kind of blues that affect every business when it goes big.
Due to the current Idaho senior senator's shenanigans, no hugs can be currently offered to any other C-Brats.

You might have screwed up a little on your boat buying, but it sounds like you'll fit in with this bunch pretty good.

I am in full support of welcoming all Cape Cruiser owners to the group.

I didn't see that one coming...

Now, Scot ol' buddy...when are you gonna officially spill the beans on the Venture 23 and 26? Come on, man - fess up! Give me a reason to make the 850 mile trek to the 2008 SBS!

No Mike, my point in starting this thread was merely to allow those Cape Cruiser owners who either joined the site or are reluctant lurkers to feel free and accepted as one of the family, to be able to post their pictures and tell their stories without feeling like outsiders. It's true anyone has been allowed to join but how many Cape Cruiser photos do you see in the photo albums? How about none. Do you somehow sense that there has been reluctance on their part. I think so. Apparently, the fact that many are "coming out of the closet" confirms this thought.

Regarding page space for "C-Dory guys", a separate section was created for C-Ranger Tugs and they're not even affiliated with C-Dory anymore, whereas Cape Cruiser owners are, in the form of the Venture series. Consider them cousins if you will, but the President of C-Dory has acknowledged as much. And I don't care if they have their own album section or not. That's your call.

So I disagree, this thread isn't ridiculous. At least a lot of other folks seemed to think it was a good idea. Bottom line, I was merely trying to "Just Be Nice".

Thank you, Peter!

I have posted the C-Dory factory news about the Venture series and the C-brats invitation to CC owners on C-Dory RedFox.

And thank you, Larry. Thanks a whole hell of a lot. I see the crap they're spewing over there and I can't even post to the place because I was booted out a long time ago. Someone needs to clarify your statement for the masses on that site to reflect the truth that nobody, with the exception of one particular gentleman, has ever been unwelcome here.

As for me, I am tired of trying to convince a dozen or so people that this site should remain the way a thousand or so want it and I give up. Ya'll can have it however you want. Probably the simplest would be to just redirect c-brats.com to The Hull Truth.

I'm a lurker. Always have been always will be. I own a cc26 with a 200 HP Honda,15HP Honda kicker, Furuno Nav-Net 2 electronics, and a rear helm . I can steer both motors from front or rear and control the big guy from the front and the little guy from the rear. I like to fish the kelp beds for big springs in Nootka Sound or Winter Harbor. Having a rear helm gives me the ability to control the boat in close while I fish or troll from the cockpit on a nice day. God I love my boat and I know all you love yours...as you should. C-Dory boats are fantastic boats. This is really a neat site and I love to read about your new adventures and boat projects. That being said, this is a C-Dory boat site for C-Dory people. Us lurkers have always been welcome to lurk(I also lurk the Arima owners group cause those are cool boats too). If any of you want to know the fuel figures for the forementioned boat, I posted some on Redfox's site. If any of you have any questions about a CC26 you can send me a personal message and I will try to answer your questions.
Thanks for letting me lurk,
Forrest

PS: Les, Kathy and EQ Marine are the best. It would be a shame to lose them.
Bill and El, You're are just plain cool. I hope to relive some of your adventures.

TyBoo - don't give up! Only been here a short time - but I love this site.
You and DaNag do a great job! You got my vote for keeping the site setup anyway you see fit. Appreciate everything you guys do to keep it running.

Cheers,
Tom

I for one, DO NOT WANT another Hull Truth. I have mentioned this previously and stand firmly behind Mike on this.

The more we have to offer, the less we have to offer. Think about it, there are plenty of chat rooms out there already. Heck I've got an Old Town Canoe too, do you really want to read my rantings about that thing.

It's probably the German in me speaking, but I say keep er pure. Surely there are enough intelligent people associated with these other entities to start a forum of their own?

Mike

Yes, we are all a big happy C-Dory family within the boating community. :hug :hug2

I have invited other boat owners to join us on our cruises (CC, Parker, Proline, Back Cove, Catalina) as I have been invited to join other cruises- but I don't join others Owners Groups.

I know there are other boat owners that have joined this group, but they have always remained silent on their boat and only joined in on discussions in general.

When the Ranger came out I figured they could have their own site, you don't see the Orca's on here- even though they are part of the C-Dory Marine Group. I have remained silent on the Rangers because I am not the one that maintains this site.

I also own a Safari Trek Motorhome- and am an assistant manager on the Trek Owners Group. Even though the coach is made by Safari- it is a Trek Owners Group. Yes- there are other owners that check in and read- but we don't allow "motorhome in general" for other makes. There are plenty of web sites for general RV discussion.

The same is true for boats- if you want a "Boat in general" group go to BoatUS- they have a great Boating group.

As was noted previously, my position has been made known on a previous thread, and it has not changed.

As for inviting other boat owners to join, that should be left up to the managers and assistant managers of this site.

This is only my opinion. I am happy that we have a great group like this and hope that others don't try to push the boundaries so that the current management don't get discouraged and "pull the plug" :rose

so that the current management don't get discouraged and "pull the plug"

Will not happen. That is an exclusive club that neither of us want membership in.

Bill owns the rendering of the software that runs the site and I own the domain names that get us to the site, but both of us recognize that the group belongs to the community. The only plugs we are entitled to pull are our own.
