Welcome to the C-Brats!

Welcome to our little place on the web!

We're glad you found us and appreciate your taking the time to join. If you have an interest in C-Dory boats, you have certainly come to the right place.

We are a friendly bunch; kind of laid back and straight forward folks who have discovered a boat that fits our pace of life perfectly. There aren't any real rules or charters for this group because we haven't had the need for them. We all seem comfortable with the simple expectation to just be nice.

The site is very easy to navigate, and choosing Help from the list of links in the title header at the top of any page will get you answers for most questions that come up. Clicking on Forums will display a list of the various discussion areas we have in place. You will see that the site has two main sections - the Pub and the Library. Finding what you're looking for is pretty easy.

If you have a C-Dory and want to show her off, we can set you up with a photo album named for your boat. We also do this for members who are soon to be getting a C-Dory. Generally, we wait until an album is requested so we don't have a lot of empty ones occupying server space. Because the server space is limited, we prefer to keep the personal albums in place for C-Dorys only.

You don't have to post messages if you don't want to, but rarely is not having anything to say reason enough to hold most of us back. If you have any comments or questions, you are encouraged and very much welcome to post in any thread that suits your interest, or to start a new discussion if needed. Somebody is sure to answer or help you find a previous discussion on a similar subject.

So come on in and meet the great people who call themselves C-Brats. We are all looking forward to meeting you.

Thanks, and have fun!

A belated Welcome to everyone who has joined our little Pub and did not get a visit from the virtual welcome wagon! We are going to start doing better, and encourage everyone to help.

From now on, we are going to get back to making a sincere effort to welcome the person behind every new name on the Memberlist. The new guy is not required to answer back, but he certainly deserves to know that we noticed him. So this thread is a "Sticky" one, and it will be right at the top of the General Forum and get many, many posts.

Thanks to all for taking the time to look us up and sign on!

Mike

Hi Bobbie and joec! I noticed you joined our group today, and wanted to let you know we're glad to see you!

If you have any questions or comments, just feel free to jump right into any discussion that interests you. Or start a new one if you like. You'll find that we are mighty easy to get along with.

Thanks for signing up!

A genuine CB welcome to redman in the great state of Virginia. Good to see you here. Be warned though - a lot of folks who thought they were "just lurking" became CD owners earlier than they planned! And without regrets, I might add.

Have fun!

Mike

Welcome Redman! You're just around the corner from me. I keep Otter at Belle Haven Marina, just south Old Town Alexandria on the GW Parkway. Let me know if you ever want a closer look or a cruise.
Best regards,

We got three new members so far this weekend from all across the US. Welcome to getzold from Maryland, JT from Nevada, and Rolf Hildre from Washington.

Getzold (I like that name!) has a CD16 Angler. JT and Rolf didn't list a CD in their Profile, so they are likely in the market. If they aren't they probably will be after they spend some time here and see what they're missing.

Welcome aboard!

Rolf methinks was directed here by Dave Olson, one of my crew members for the Great 2006 Blaine, WA, to Ketchikan, AK, cruise...he is potential crew for whoever cruises Daydream back down to Blaine... (Rolf - am I right here?)

Minnesota and New Jersey. Those are the two states that increased their representation on here today.

Hello there Cape_Shore and DICKNBUNNY! Good to see you here!

Welcome sfran999 - an engineer from Walnut Creek CA who is interested in boating! You'll find there's a few other engineers on the board who also have an interest in boating and who often provide 1) the most rational explanations for interesting problems or phenomena we observe while boating and 2) the most creative ideas for modifying the boat (Doggone Dan comes to mind). Also, we have several members from the bay area (including one of the two admins of the board). Most all of our members are happy to show off their boats via demo rides etc. If you're shopping for a boat, you might consider posting your interests and ask if someone in your neighborhood will give you the skinny on the CD's!

Welcome again,
Roger on the SeaDNA

We've had 3 new sign-ons since sfran999.

Welcome to Bad-Tat a logistics manager from Cumming, GA who has interests in boating and motor cycles. There are a few others on this board who both boat and bike. Bad-Tat apparently doesn't YET have a C-Dory - feel free to ask as many questions as you need. You'll find many willing to answer. Also, please look at the Brat Map and member list to locate CD owners in your area. As I mentioned above, many may be willing to show you their boats. There's not a lot of C-brats in your neck of the woods, but there are some.

Welcome also to Ken and Cindy from Swan Lake MT. They have a 19' Angler and at list interests as fishing, fishing and fishing. That's a close match to my CD interests so if you're comnig to the Seattle area sometime, let me know, I'll take you out to (hopefully) slay a salmon or two.

Last but not least is Tin Lizzy from Buffalo NY. Dale has already posted a couple of times about his interest in acquiring a 16' angler or cruiser. He's already gotten a lot of good feedback from the members on this site and my guess is that he'll be sticking around, buying a boat and at some point maybe will be joining the right coasters at a future gathering.

Welcome again,
Roger on the SeaDNA

Met up with Redman yesterday for a cruise on the Potomac. Beautiful afternoon and calm water. We had to find a wake so I could tell him what all this talk about "pounding" was about! Stopped for a few minutes with the engine off and drifted, drank a beer, and talked about the C-Dory as the least expensive waterfront property you'll ever find in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area!

welcome Usatin, that was one helluva adventure you undertook. Are you thinking about trading the jet ski in for a handlebar equipped C-Dory?

Tom: Often thought about bringing FreeByrd up and staying in the water at one of the docks in down town Washington for about a week to see the Smithsonians and many of the other sites...and a little travel in and about the area up there. Good docks for this week long slip rental please.

Byrdman,
Check www.washingtonmarina.com
Transient slips available, located in southwest DC. Closest point to museums and DC attractions. Other options in area, but requiring a vehicle: Fort Washington Marina (MD), Columbia Island Marina (VA, near Pentagon), and our own Belle Haven Marina (VA, south of Old Town Alexandria). Would love to see you over this way! Keep us posted.

We've had two new user join in the past couple of days. Please send a C-brat welcome to:

Jim Salkeld: Jim is a machinist/tech from the San Francisco area and he owns a grey-white 16' angler named SHANANIGEN. He's already added his boat to the Brat Map so it looks like he might be hanging out here for awhile. Welcome Jim - be sure to tell us about your travel and fishing adventures in the boat!

Our other newest member is Seacat. Seacat is from Felton, DE, works for the govt and likes to fish. He doesn't list a C-Dory so maybe he's thinking about it. If you're interest, SeaCat, check out the for sale section of the Brats. It's a good place to pick up a used CD and there are several nice boats listed right now. Welcome SeaCat!

For the new joiners, feel free to post your questions to the site. Very rarely does a question about a C-Dory or boating related manner go unanswered and usually you will get many responses to your posts. The site now has 1310 members and 599 of them have posted at least once. Here you will find not only answers to your questions but opportunities to attend C-brat gatherings, to set foot on various C-Dories, to learn what others are doing on there boats or have done to their boats and to (perhaps) make new friends. Welcome.

Roger on the SeaDNA

Our newest member is "fuller" from Olympia WA. Fuller has made one post re: a red 16' Angler he has for sale. We hope that's so he can trade up to a larger C-Dory! Welcome "fuller". Check out the help section if you wish. You can get your own photo album to post pictures of the boat and your adventures in it OR you can post to the "For Sale Photo Album". A few good photos really help to sell the boat.

Welcome again,
Roger on the SeaDNA

Hi Folks!

I'm just stopping by to say hello to what seems like an absolutely terrific group of people. No, I don't own a C-Dory, but I sure enjoy looking at them and considering them for my next possible boat. I summer in Friday Harbor, WA, and know that the C-Dory would fit right in there.

I sure like this forum, by the way. Great content and insight on customizing the C-Dory.

Welcome Jim,

You'll undoubtably see many CD when you're up in Friday Harbor. When you're on your way up, let us know. I'm sure myself or someone else would be willing to take you for a ride. You might also want to stop and visit the factory on your way.

Best,
Roger on the SeaDNA

Jim,
