Welcome to the C-Brats!

Hi all...
Quick note from Carol and I. We purchased the Sojourn II (19 Angler) from Carrie and Gene of Mobile East Marine in NC. We have renamed her Intrepid and have already spent all our extra hours out on the water. Decided about six years ago that a C-Dory would be our next boat and are thrilled to finally call one our own. We plan to meet many of you at the NC Gathering in late Sept.

Hi all!

I don't want to step on toes or offend anyone, so I have a question. I would like to know if anyone has an objection to my using pictures of your boat? I'm hoping to put together a collage of boats from 1981 to current for the Open House in January.

And feel free to send me a picture, but please let me know what year it is and what model. I can't always tell if it's a 22 or 25. :crook

Thank you!

Casey, I wouldn't think so but to be on the safe side, I'd ask.

You can look at the "Our C-Dorys" tab at the top of the page. In there, you can sort by year/model/etc. Then you can go to their albums and pick out pictures. There are boats listed that don't have pictures, you need to click on the profile and see. Then go to their albums and look.

From that, you can PM or e-mail them and ask permission. You could probably find every year/model you've got in your history.

Good luck. If you need help, e-mail or PM me and I'll walk you through it on the phone if you'll call me.

Charlie

Casey, take a look at the album for Wild Blue. The photos were taken by two retired professional photographers, so the quality is very high. Jim and Joan have literally been all over the map with their boat, and have taken photos of other C-Dories during their travels. I suspect that you could put together an awesome collage using just their photos -- not that you should, but that would be a great starting point. PM JamesTXSD for permission.

Brats -- who else is a prolific and talented photographer we can refer to Casey?

Hi All,

I've been lurking for awhile but it's time to come out and join the group. My name is Jeff Pugh and my wife's name is Donna. We bought Lee and Ronalee Kincaid's 25 foot cruiser in Bellingham last month.

It's renamed the Tranquilo (no name was actually on the boat when we got it). My wife picked the name. Besides the generally tranquil feeling one can often get on the water she implies that there is an attitude suggestion for the skipper - can you imagine that.

I did a fair amount of sailing in the Bay Area on my families sailboat as a young adult. But it's been almost 30 years so essentially we're newbies.

I've gotten quite a bit of information off this site both before and after the purchase. Besides the Kincaid's I also met the owners of R-Matey as my dog and I were preparing to head back with the trailer to California.

I was wondering when the next group sponsored event in my area would occur?

We've been using the boat every weekend and love it. There may be alot of people around the bay but they aren't out on the water. At least in November. These lower gas prices don't hurt a bit.

My biggest challenge, so far, is dealing with the sideways momentum of the boat going in and out of our slip. Much different then a sailboat.

I've rambled on enough. Is great to be part of this group. :D

Jeff

Jeff- Welcome :!:
The next cruise in your area is the Delta Cruise in the spring.
Here's the link to the last one in May '08.

Many hours of enjoyment on your boat,

Hi Jeff,

Welcome to the C-Brats

Nice to have met you last month when you were here in Bellingham. Perhaps you and Donna can visit our area in January when we have the SBS/CBC. Lots of fun and lots of goodies.....and you get to meet LOTS of C-Brats, too :thup

Hi everyone,

My name is Mat and I just bought my first boat, 1989 22' Cruiser. I live in Huntington Beach CA and plan on using my C-Dory for diving mostly. What a great forum this C-Brats site is! Due to the fact I dont even qualify as a beginner, I have alot of questions. Hope to see some brats out on the water!

Thanks,
Mat

Welcome Mat, If you bought a C-Dory you're not a beginner. Lots of information here and probably many questions yet unanswered because they haven't been asked as of yet. Ask away. You can also use the library to find an infinite number of answers to questions already asked and/or discussed. I think the search mode will be much improved when the site makes its move to its new home.

Welcome to the Brats. Nice to see someone from HB. I grew up in Belmont Shore and was a lifeguard at HB in the mid fifties, as my kids say: "back when dinosaurs roamed the earth". Hope you enjoy your 22. Folks here are full of experience and advice, some of it even correct! :)

Thanks for the welcome Anna Leigh and colobear! What a cool time to be a life guard in HB colobear, that must have been fun. I have already found piles of info to digest around the site so, here I go on my new adventure/hobbie... Glad I found a comunity to share experiances with. By the way, how long has C-Brats been around?

Thanks again,
Mat

Hey Mat, welcome aboard! Email Tyboo (the site administrator) and request a photo album -- then you can show us pics of your new baby!

How long have "we" been here? According to the dates on Memberlist, since late October of 2003. We are coming up on "our" 6th Anniversary. And shortly will be doing some major changes. Waiting,,,, waiting,,,waiting...

Welcome to C-Brats, Mat!

C-Brats launched on October 23, 2003. If I remember correctly Bill "DaNag" and Mike "Tyboo",our administrators on this site also had a C-Brat site on MSN prior to moving to this. For certain, prior to that there was a C-Dory Owners Group site on MSN that I joined in either late 1999 or early 2000. (I'm not sure when it began).

You've joined a super group of folks! Hopefully, you'll be able to attend some of the C-Brat Gatherings. (There is one every year to Catalina and to Santa Barbara). (Also many more throughout the country!)

Thanks all,

I posted a pic of "Frigg" the day I first layed eyes on her. I'll post more pics when I get her cleaned up. Right now she is at the doctors getting tuned up.
