Over 60 mph sustained winds. No loss of life!! But, 19 homes destroyed, over 62,000 homes without power and some school systems shut down due to lack of electricity. Most of the damage was between Memphis and the center of the state. Here on the Cumberland where we have enjoyed a few gatherings, once again, we were spared any real bad damage by a "majical hole" in the storm wall. Very, very hard lightening for about 3 hours....but, no long term loss of power or homes destroyed and no spin off tornados. Maybe things will calm a bit now and we can get back to some spring Crapie fishing. Keeping the Falcon and weather around them in our prayers as they travel the TN river.

Glad you're OK Pat. Just South of us last Saturday, Deltaville wasn't so lucky. 7 Killed and many homes destroyed by a twister. We were ready to go to the cellar but it never came up here. We have no boats in the water (yet).

We have talked about hurricane and tornadoes vs earthquakes before and which is more deadly.
After the tornado deaths last we I looked up the numbers and I will take the earthquakes here any time. In the US earthquakes only kill about 20 to 50 people per year every 3 to 5 years. You have to look at every 30 to 75 years in order to have those deaths climb over 100. Tornadoes on the other hand kill 20 to 80 people every year and deaths over a 100 to 200 every 3 to 5 years. Is hands down safer to be in earthquake country in the US then tornado ally. Having lived in both in my life I will stay here in the north west.
