Weather in Western Washington tonight

I want to thank Larry for posting his warning about Western Washington weather. Because of his warning I was able to batten down the hatches several hours before the storm force winds arrived. My boat and boat cover are unscathed. For those of you who are familiar with the Deception Pass area, I drove over the Deception Pass bridge yesterday about 0830. The water was as rough as I have ever seen. There was a strong ebb against storm winds. 4-5ft standing waves in Deception Pass, breakers against the bridge abutments. Looking out toward Deception Island and Rosario Straits one saw nothing but white water with genuine surf.

I was amazed, Barry. I had noted the oncoming storm on the "news" the prior night and told Meredith I was glad she had school yesterday. :lol: The winds here were howling all day; downed trees, trash cans down the street etc. Even Lake Stevens had small white-caps. I can only imagine the straight. :shock:

You're welcome. Here in Tulalip, we lost some trees and have lots of small limbs down.

Yesterday on a trip to Everett, we saw that the sewage lagoon along I-5 had breakers on the far shore!

I have that page set to open in Firefox in a group of tabs, right after the C-Brats. Viewing that page is a quick way to see the overall weather picture. No color=good weather. Lots of colors= trouble. In my opinion, this is one of the best government services NOAA provides.
 
The Guemes Ferry runs were canceled all day until about 4:30 in the afternoon. Never lost the power, but lost the ferry. And this morning there is about a 30 ft sail boat high and dry on the beach beside the Guemes Ferry dock in Anacortes.
