Washington State Tax Question

Greg,

It's probably because I don't have a 22 C-Dory anymore. My slip now is 40 ft long for my 37ft Puget Trawler. I don't know if the tax is based on what you pay for the slip or on the area of underwater state land occupied. My tax is not stated as a percentage, just as a $$ amount, I converted the $$ to a percentage.

Larry,

I have been shopping around for marina space and most quotes that I have seen show 12.8% WA state Leasehold tax except for Condo marinas such as Anacortes.

btw. Probably not going to La Conner but I will buy you a beer instead for the suggestion :beer

Just for perspective, the estimated value of the planes at Davis Monthan is about 5.2% of what the US will spend this year alone on military expenditures. So while there is a lot of potential value sitting in the sun in Az., it was accumulated over many years and represents a teeny fraction of the total expenditures. I'd also be willing to bet that the expense necessary to make that stuff serviceable again far exceeds the value.

Roger,

Agreed, but they were real $$ at the time the stuff was bought. Did you ever notice how much things are projected to cost vs what they actually cost on entry into service? Look at the F35.

Sure they now only have scrap value and not even that if they just sit there.

Did you ever read Augustines Law? Very funny, tongue in cheek poke at this topic.

Putting boat in water Friday... now watch the weather change.
