Washdown pump switch and hose connection

Hello all – Getting ready to install my switch and hose connection for my washdown pump on my 19’ Angler. Is there a preferred location of these two items. Thinking the switch should be out of the cockpit so it does not get bumped and out of the elements. I will post pics when I am done but if anyone has pics of what they have done that would be great to see.

Thanks all.

The two C Dory I have owned with the wash down system, had the pickup aft in the cabin under a seat or hanging locker. The hose, and switch were on the port cabin bulkhead. Never had a problem. But if you were concerned, you could put a cover over the switch. Another option would be to put the switch up under the gunnel, so that you had to reach up for it. I want the switch to be accessible from the cockpit, so you can turn it on and off as doing the wash down.

originally we installed our wash down under the starboard hatch, underside where the batteries sit. however the auto pressure switch gave out on that and the replacement pump was too large to fit in same area and still have acess to pickup screen. So we relocated under splash-well between the two gas tanks. I thought about putting it under cabinet sink to avoid being exposed to the elements but was not sure if it would still be withing the 10' max pickup they called for to still be self priming.

as for the switch we put in a 4 blue sea switch on the gunnel starboard side these switches cant be "bumped" and so far so good. this is there first season however
here is a pic

Thanks - I will be mounting the pump or the port side underneath the splashwell, above the gas tank. Just gonna mount the switch at steering helm. This will keep it from getting wet and not get bumped. I have a 19' angler so no need to worry about doors. I can get to the switch within less than 5 seconds literally so really no need to have it in the cockpit. Will post pics when I get all installed. Hopefully by Monday.

The previous owner had a live bait tank on a little table on the splash well & a thru hull in the transom for the pump. I took all that off & put in a new thru hull in the same hole. My wash down pump is mounted to the inside of the transom, just above & to the left of the bilge sump between the fuel tanks. I wired it to the helm switch console to an unused rocker switch. Works great, no problems or concerns. Routed the hose up into the port battery lazerette. Sure comes in handy for all that blood & ocean related goosh! Vern
