Wanted - Cockpit Canvas Details

Fred had his camperback done at King Marine, I think? Fred, was "Little Buddy" a 1984 Angler? I don't think they kept the patterns from Fred's angler and the installation was a little different than mine. Pat, you might find some more pics under "Little Buddy" or the "Anita Marie" album.

Wow.. ask and ye shall receive.. the Fairbanks Flotilla responds

Jon,
Thanks for the information. I've been studying your photos over the last few months. That's the inspiration for getting my cockpit protected, too. I'll certainly give King a call to check about prices.

Dan,
I talked to the retired canvas guy last summer. If he's in the right mood and not busy with other projects he says he can be persuaded to do a few projects. I sure agree about the shop in town. Pretty pricey, too.

Mark,
Thanks for the invite. Your stowing solution sounds great. We'll come over to take a peek at it when (and if) the snow melts this spring/summer.

Pat

If you want the Sunbrella cover to match your interior Sunbrella double check the color as listed in your owner's manual -- it was wrong in ours!

We have Blue Tweed #4653 Sunbrella, not Mediterrian Blue #4652 as shown in the manual. One digit off, but the fabric looks different.

We had a full mooring/trailer cover made. Keeps the boat very clean.

Dan,

Can you send me a small piece of your Sunbrella? I can check it against a HUGE Sunbrella sample pack... please don't cut it out of one of the bunk tops.

Dusty

Hey Dan, matching Sunbrella and marine paint? Sounds like you're doing some serious renovating.

Looks like the DustMaster has you handled on the Sunbrella.

C-Dory paint/gel coat, patch paste repair gel coat, etc., is available thru Spectrum Color, 1410 - 37th St. N.W. Suite F, Auburn, WA 98001, (253) 735-1830. Practically next door to the C-Dory plant.

I believe they can furnish most of the colors for the c-Dorys in whatever form, barring some colors which may have been relegated to the "distant past file", ie: retired......the round one in the corner. They list them by year and color.

Geez Dan, don't quit your steady job, OK. :idea :idea

It's ok to do all that neat work on the boat, and it does look good! But I'd hate to see you join that long list of comedians that are out of work.

heh heh

I found Dave King very helpful.

He cut the canvas with some changes I requested. I ordered clear panels and some screening. He bent and shipped the frames and hardware. He then walked me through installing it.

I'm pleased with the results.

Good luck

I've been exchanging e-mails with Dave. He needed a few snapshots of the transom on my old angler before working up a quote. The quote is in progress now. I'll be able to give you some numbers when we decide on the final package.

I just returned from Seattle and a trip to King Marine for a new camper-back canvas. I have posted pix in CAVU's album. I was the lucky winner of the canvas door prize at the factory gathering in Jan. A big thanks to C-dory!!

Here's what I came up with for C-Worthy. Two adjustable tent poles, a green tarp (I know, it doesn't match the blue trim) some p-cord, and two suction-cup hooks from Fred Meyer's. I prop it up with the boathook in the motor well betwen the twins.

It's cheap and keeps the pretty boats from anchoring too close. :D

I think I'll have to reconsider my color choice this spring, after I shovel the snow off, and discover all the new "opportunities" for duct tape.

So here's my duct tape joke:

How is duct tape like The Force? :?:

Well, it has a dark side, and a light side, and it holds the universe together... :smilep

All is not lost, there are two new Canvas outfits in Fairbanks. Both are experienced. One has done jobs for the Boat Shop and they look good. The other is run by a couple guys that separated from Canvas Tent & Supply, to start their own business and is called "Custom Canvas Alaska LLC", specializing in boat tops. Phone# is 907-455-7722, website is customcanvas@alaska.net.

Wow!

Over the last couple of weeks, we finally decided to add camper canvas to Two Lucky Fish. I call Canvas Riggers (Oak Harbor) based on recommendations, they are local (to me), and I know they do great work. But...they are booked 'till October, they wanted the boat for 2-3 weeks, and they wanted an awful lot of money...so...

I called King Marine Canvas a little over a week ago. Dave promised he'd install the camper canvas with ~ 1 week lead time, and wanted the boat for ~ 2 hours. And...the cost was about half of Canvas Riggers. So..today, we trailered Two Lucky Fish to Dave's shop, and sure enough, in two hours he installed camper canvas on Two Lucky Fish - just in time for Blakely. I'm impressed!

Oh yea - Terry, your boat (Rock C) is at King Marine, it is looking fine, the support bows are installed so far - custom designed.

See you all at Blakely this weekend
