Since there are no other takers, a couple possible suggestions....
If you are considering buying new, there's a chance the factory (in Bellingham) will let you check out the 16 cruiser that is currently being built, after it is finished and before it is shipped off to the new dealer in FL. If you time it right.
But if you are looking to buy used, then wait for the next one to pop up on CL and go check it out...sometimes people get lucky and find them just down the street (Harvey!). But usually people have to drive a fair distance to get a good one, even shipping them across the country. Luckily you are in the PNW and so they are more abundant relative to other parts of the country. A drive across the state wouldn't be much for a serious buyer, ask for more photos via email before making the drive. There's a nice looking one in Olympia that just popped up yesterday, looks like a clean unmolested example for about a third of what a new one will cost.
You mentioned "family" though, and most 16 owners agree that it is good for 2 people, even better for 1 person; Three or more is a crowd. While very capable, they are small boats.
