Want to be on da water

Well been working on the house for the last few days or so.... waiting for the Salmon season to open . Strait - O - Juan looking like glass for the last week . So the season opened here yesterday , but busy with the house so all set to get out there on day 2 ...... wake to a howling wind 4-5 foot waves. As much as I love to fish ain't going out in that crap as already know that won't be fun even when ya are catching fish .... oh well ain't life grand , there is always tomorrow .

Larry, Smooth water waits for no one! The house chores, on the other hand, can always wait IMHO. For the first time in 18 months, the water on the Straits yesterday made me wish I had a boat!

Yeah Roger I know..... But the chores are a little remodel on our basement Apt. , and that is a source of income so have to get it done so as to be able to rent it out again ..... otherwise we would have been out on the water . So now as I wait for the wind to let up some I will toil away at what must get done . I know what ya mean about you wanting to be out there on the water. For as long as I can remember always had a motorcycle in the garage , then went through a divorce and had to sell the bike I had at the time .... It was quite a while before I longed to be out on the road , but was even longer before I put another motorcycle back in my garage . Now I will never be without one , at least as long as I have control over it ...... So anyways Roger , over time you will either lose the want to be out on the water all together , or you'll get another boat . I will keep it in the back of my mind from now on , " smooth water waits for no man . "

I think I can help you with that. There is a 16 footer for sale right there in Sequim! It isn't the biggest C-Dory but it is the 'funnist".Try it, you'll like it. As we say in NJ, "Hey, what's not to like". You're welcome.

Marti,

My Old Town Tripper 17 is still hanging around for when I can't afford boat gas anymore. And it cruises admirably

A 16 ..... Oh how they look . So salty in there own way . If wishes were cash I would have me a 16 parked in the driveway all set up ta fish , and of course the TomCat in her slip all set to cruise . Now if I could only get Lizzy to see it that way . But it could mayhaps be a reality some day . After all it was not over night that she saw things my way about motorcycles ( have 3 of them now. 2 Harleys and a Yamaha ) so I'll have to keep my fingers crossed for in the future when a clean 16 angler shows it's self for sale .

When we were just married we rented an apartment on a creek on Floral Ave. in Ithaca. The apt came with pool (a pool table just outside the curtain that separated our apt from the rest of the cellar. That house has since fell victim to urban renewal). Anyway, Dotty was in the Cornell Outing Club and she borrowed one of their canoes for the summer. We played on that thing on Lake Cayuga that first summer ('61) of our 53 years together. Later in NJ we had our Grumman which we used mostly on the Delaware and Raritan Canal, with me seated in the stern and Dotty on her knees paddling up forward. Now, on the 16, we both sit. Still enjoying our time on the water.

I had a Grumman 16 for many years. It went to one of my kids, who sold it after a few years. That's why the Old Town is still here.

Congratulations on the 53 years and sitting side my side in the (other) 16. It's a great life, keep it up.
