Wallas 800/220 Marine Stove/Heater

The 22's I have seen all had a two burner Wallas. Mine came with a one burner and I am curious about the usefulness of a one burner and others experiences with them.

I have the two burner model. Your single burner will put out about half the heat of the larger stove which may not be any limitation depending on whether you intend to boat in very cold weather. Cooking will be slightly limited and may require more planning for one-pot meals. But little things like: make coffee first into a thermos and then make an omelet etc. I think you will be happy with it.

Actually...all the so called two burner stoves only have one burner...on the left side of the stove. Hence the single control. The right "burner" is created by routing the exhaust gasses from the left burner to the right burner area before venting overboard. The right burner puts out much less heat. The two burner stove has a BTU output rating of 6000...and your single burner is rated at 4000 BTU's...so you can expect about 2/3rds of the heat that a two burner would put out. I would expect the single burner would be adequate as I very rarely use my two burner at 100% for space heating. Only one burner available would be more of a problem when preparing those gourmet meals afloat!

Welcome to the c-brats, You are going to love your 22. I spent two summers on a friends 22 Cruiser. I enjoy nice dinners , cocktails, etc. My contribution to his boat was a Magma Catalina grill. It worked really well. At the 2005 Seattle Boat Show we ordered a Tomcat 25.5. The first thing that we installed was a new Catalina grill. I bake bread, potatoes, corn grill fish, steaks etc. We also carry a one burner butane stove, for cooking crab, making coffee and other out door cooking. You will find cooking in the cabin in cool or cold weather will cause a LOT of condensation. Its easier to cook out side. Enjoy the dory

I was told by Scanmarine the one burner is a kerosine only stove and that the single burner capable of heating 2 pots would burn kerosine, diesel or Kleen Heat. If you paid $2300-$2400 then you should have gotten the Wallas 85DU with the 270 lid. The 800 Stove with 220 lid was around $1500 at the SBS last year. They put the wrong one in my boat and had to change it out.
