How does one find the value of the things that make their boat "go"? My insurance person is asking me the value of the motors. NADA gives me an approx on the boat, but not the motors or trailer... any tips?

I used an agreed value...and showed our "boats for sale" listings as the NADA values are not anywhere close to accurate. NADA is done with a new price and after that a percentage of devaluation developed by average of all used boats....

Thanks Joel, I know Ron just sold Beagle here locally and its very similar in age and motors/trailer, so I sent that listing to my agent.

thanks!

already did and specifically included the most similar boats for simplicity's sake, thanks ;)

I think it's relative to where you're sitting at the time of assessment. For instance, if I'm sitting in my boat while on the trailer parked in my driveway, the motor is worth a few $K. However, if I'm 20 miles off shore and there appear to be angry dark clouds on the horizon, that motor's worth just appreciated exponentially. 8)

I find the value skyrockets in the dead of winter when I'm stuck behind my desk with no window for 4-6 months straight as well. :beer
