Hi everyone I am putting a 5.7 in my 27' bow picker to replace the aq175 I am looking for some ideas for adding onto the existing motor mounts they need to be moved forward 4inches. Any suggestions would be great thanks

Pictures would be very helpful. As you are probably aware, very few C-Dories have inboard or an I/O power so the group here won't have much to compare your situation to (hence the suggestion for pictures). Also, if it were me, I'd probably get rid of the I/O and put an outboard on a bracket behind the boat. You'd wind up with a lot more space in the cockpit and could probably convert the engine compartment into a large fish-hold.

I will post some pics tomorrow what I am thinking is lagging wood to the existing pillars and glassing it I have had a few suggestions of doing that by other boat shops but a few more ideas are always helpful thanks

I would extend the engine mount stringers with a dense wood (Oak is often used) glassed in with epoxy to get the better secondary bond.

I believe that your bow picker has the pilot house aft--is the engine under the bunk? What modifications have to be done inside with the bigger engine?

The other issue, is that C Dories don't need a lot of HP. I have no idea how a bow picker handles, with the light weight forward, and the engine aft--but I wonder how it will handle with the larger engine?
