There are at least three threads on this topic. Not everyone who does this removes as much of the bulkhead as shown below, but I like the larger removal, and it doesn't seem to affect the structural integrity of the boat. It is also possible to do it on all sizes of C-Dorys, if I'm not mistaken!

my first thought is that I didn't want to lose the overhead shelf and so left it. See the threads Daydream and Anna Leigh.
