UPDATE TIME on Verizon RAZOR Androids

As with any company, there are those who are happy with it, (mostly the silent majority unless prodded,) and there are those who are dissatisfied. I think the major area for that would be the billing and customer service. How happy are you with the Verizon team, from buying the phone to paying the bill?

I have had ATT for almost 14 years, and have generally been pretty satisfied with the service. Yes there have been some times but they have always made it right.

Right now, being out of contract, and having more contacts on Verizon it seems like a good opportunity to change. Just wanting to do it with my eyes open. Thanks for all the good information.

Hey Grumpy, maybe that's why they call it Deception Pass [Reception Pass?]. Probably fools some folks into thinking they are in Canada.

Harvey, I have one word for you: iPhone! Why are you fooling around with the inelegant interface of the Droid? A Verizon iPhone is the WAY! ALL the apps you want are on the iPhone!
 
Ah Pat , one mans "inelegant interface " is another mans powerful multitasking tool . We have both in our family and Ill take the high powered Droid any day of the week .I do a lot of things at once with my droid 3 phone .I do envy the iphone camera though........Bottom line ,both good phones.
Looks like the Razr Max is my next device.

I have unlimited data but I turn OFF all apps by clicking on the little green alien every time I stop actively using the phone. I just leave on e-mail and phone service. This saves battery and the apps come on every time I log in(password) anyway.

I like that explanation but I think the real one is the combination of a poor reception area for Verizon and high up, direct line of sight to Victoria and the Jolly Rogers network :-)

As for the interface issue I have Droid and I-pad and can find reasons to both like and hate both of them and would have fired any software engineer of mine who wrote anything as bad as some of the apps but perhaps that's why I am Grumpy :-)

.As far as the next choice, the Admirable and I will pay a visit to the very knowledgeable people at the Verizon toy shop and will probably come out with 2 of whatever feels good that day and not worry about it until the cabin fever session in about 2 years.

Pat - 1 word reply -pdaNet. I can tether my computer for free to the droid and with my unlimited data plan, I can surf from the computer almost anywhere in the US.
 
OK, so would it make $ensne to skip the Smart phone and go with a half smart phone (text and talk) and add a tablet, (iPad or such)? Now I am starting to look at more options I guess.

Harvey, once you have a smart phone, you'll never go back to anything less. While the smart phone is less than ideal in some situations and typing on it can be a bit annoying, the ability to surf from anywhere at anytime + the ability to do navigation (car, walking) with it with real-time updates is really worth having.

For example, someone sends me an email. I receive it on my phone. If it requires a quick reply, I can do it. If it requires a quick call, I tap on the phone number and it calls it. If it has an address in it, I tap on that and the navigation software pops up. When I get a text from someone and I'm driving, a message pops up and I can have the phone read the message to me via audio with a voice command. All of this isn't possible with a non-smart phone. Also, I can't count the number of times I've looked up an address or phone number while I was out and about or the number of times I looked up some minor fact during a discussion with someone.

It's kind of like seat warmers in the car. While you don't miss these things if you've never had them, you really enjoy it once you do.

I agree that it is a cool phone with a ton of possibilities. I like all that it can do, probably a ton more than I could ever use, and I know it would do the navigation things I need. Question is, whether a tablet would do them better, except for the phone call things.

I like the size of the tablet, and if the android aps for it are the same as the ones for the phone (Navionics) then the tablet seems like the better choice, because of the size, if the work on the tablet screen.

Maybe time for a new thread tablet vs smart phone.
