This is a month old but I just now stumbled across the picture. In the background is the Astoria Megler (OR/WA) bridge for Highway 101. With salmon, crab and elk all readily available, the Columbia River is a sportsman's paradise.

With a lasoe and the crab pot puller (and maybe a davit), you should be able to harvest one of those. Or do you take 'em by hook and line? If so, what color flasher do you run?
 
Cool, Thanks for sharing Mike. Now a really cool video for U-Tube would be of Roger and one of those on his cockpit deck after he gets it on board.

Deer and elk are good swimmers. When working in the Tetons, we used to see them swimming back and forth to... yep... Elk Island. Hollow hairs in their fur; makes them buoyant.
 
We see Sitka Black Tails doing that in Prince William Sound and southeast Alaska. You can't harvest them until their feet hit the ground, but the C-Dory 22 is well suited to closely following a swimming deer and can still float nicely in water a deer can stand up in, and it's flat bottom make it as ideal a platform for marksmanship as a small v-nosed ocean going cabin boat gets.
 
Guess their hooves are better paddles then you would think.
 
Where were all these true spikes during hunting season.
 
I've seen deer swimming between islands in the San Juans. Last fall I was out in my boat and I saw a squirrel swim across a lake mess around a bit on the other side, then swim back.
