Trying shore power for the first time...

I just received my Marinco 30A 125V to 15A 125V adapter to plug in the shore power to the boat to an extension chord to my house. I have no manual for my "new" 2004 CD25. (Jeff from the factory is sending a PDF file of it to me soon) I was going to try it out tomorrow if it isn't raining. Is there any certain switches that must be turned off first before I plug everything in? I have never owned a boat with shore power before.

If the boat has a 110v. breaker panel, the main breaker should be off when plugged in. Being the first time you have used it, each breaker should then be turned on one at a time to check for malfunctions or overloads. I can see it coming now, new tv, microwave, heaters, electric blanket, computer, etc, etc.

We make it a point to turn off all the power switches to the boat when plugging in. Then turn on the main breaker to check the "reverse polarity" light. When all looks good there, turn on the switches as necessary for what you want to use.

Keep in mind that you will be running off a 15 amp circuit from the house and will not likely be able to run everything at once.

So I can keep the battery switch on to both batteries while I am plugging it into shore power? I was hoping to use the battery charger that is built in to charge the batteries this weekend.
 
It has a Guest model 2610 10 amp on board battery charger, two output.
 
Yes you can leave the battery switch in the both position. Also, an important safety tip is to attach the boat end of the cord FIRST and then plug into the shore side supply. That way if you drop one end of the cord in the water, it's not hot. When disconnecting, disconnect at the shore end (HOT end) first. Much safer....
