Trolling speed

New cdory owner here....I love all the info on this forum!
I just purchased a 2004 16 cruiser with a 40hp honda. I'd like to try and estimate how slow I could troll. Does anyone have any experience?

We have a 16 cruiser w/50 Honda and we fish reservoirs w/little to no current. Our GPS indicates a speed of 2.2 to 2.5 mph. We did not want to add a trolling motor, and have a Permatrim, so no trolling plate. Thus we have added a Cabela's drift sock. That got us to 1.5 down to 1.2 depending on wind. Only problem is that at times directional control can be difficult, especially in a quartering or crosswind. Sometimes I have to pull it correct direction and then deploy it again when we are back on course. As usual things are a compromise, but for us I think it has been the best alternative.

I am having Marc Grove install the Minnkota RT55EM Saltwater Engine Mount Trolling Motor on my 16 when it arrives from the factory. Glad to hear it works well on the 22. Should be good for the 16. I use a Minnkota trolling motor with 55 lbs of thrust on my Gheenoe and it works well. There was a time I fished out of a 9 foot inflatable using only that Minnkota to get around. By the way Mark from the company says my boat should be finished this week then it is on to shipping. Can't wait!
PS How do I add photos to a post?

Thanks for the info, sounds like i should be able to troll down to below 2 or even less with a sock. Engine Mounted trolling motor is awesome but why not buy a used kicker on craigslist for that cost  ....i guess its good for stealth though
