We are planning to leave Gulf Breeze, Fl August 16th 2010 for Nashville, TN. I am looking for some local knowledge of th Cumberland since the flood. Looks like some of the marinas and things are gone. Riverview Maina-Ashland City-gone, Clarksville marina still hole in dirt??. Cheatham dam open?? Fuel stops Barkley State Park and Nashville?? We will be staying in Hendersonville at Creekwood Marina for our week in Nashville . I have 2 cousins who live there. Thanks for any info.

HELLO CARL,
what is your eta for nashville? i didn't get from your post if you were floating your boat or trailering it. jim and sandy, c-brats as well as byrdman, linda and myself were thinking about meeting in nashville later this month.
thanks

We are going by boat. Planning about 3-4 days of running 50- 60 miles a day/week around 240 miles. Best guess around September 15-20 maybe 1 October depends on what we stop and see. Planned now with detail to Demopolis, AL- after as we go.

Carl, JoAnn, Patrick, Linda, Brigners, Brother Mike, Jim & Mike, Jim & Sandy....and anyone else just reading along here... Howdie!

OK, Hydrocodone or something like that kick'n in a little bit here after some oral surgery on Tuesday...but here goes....ish:

Let's try a get together but, I will be in Peru on a mission trip from 13-23August.

Carl & JoAnn: Things are pretty much back to normal on the Cumberland River other than Harpeth Shoals in Ashland City. That is just one stop, and it was a new one so not really use to using it much anyway. Others are back in full action and the river is in good shape. Having said that, the further up river you go, the prettier and nicer it is. Two stops, Clarksville and Nashville are just wall docks if you will. You just call and make reservations. Nashville charges you and Clarksville is free. Both towns have some neat stuff in walking distances.

You can stay at one marina and see the Cumberland River, but, I would stay on the move or at least move about. Now, you indicate you have two cousins in Hendersonville.... does that mean you have a place to stow your tow vehicle and trailer for your water time?

Send me a PM with your phone number and I can/will give you a call on Friday when my mouth is working better....and the prescriptions are not hitting me as hard.

Hello Carl and Jo Ann!
You need a Quimby's!!! There are marinas every 30-50 miles offering a varried list of services on the Cumberland once you get past the canal at the Tennessee and Cumberland. As you come through the canal, turn to port and go apx. 1.5 miles to Green Turtle Bay Marina. You can pick up a Quimby's there, or at Demopolis. As I type, Cheatham Dam is up & running as is Old Hickory and Cordell Hull. I just locked through Cordell a week ago, and was at Old Hickory last Saturday. The Riverview Resturant is CLOSED. My friend Walt Stockstill has sold house, boat, and other stuff to re-build his FINE resturaunt. The Blue Moon at Rock Harbor (mm 175) is gone. I don't know if Arch Kelly is gonna re-build or not.
Other "handy" items would be the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer's Tennesse River and Cumberland River charts. Call them @ 615-736-7864. That should get you the Map & Navigation Charts office. The charts are about $10.00 each and they will mail them using your credit card. Hope we can get a gathering together..we ARE long overdue!!! If we can help further, drop us a line or e-mail!

Carl and Jo Ann,

As the dates get closer, let me know when you think you'll be cruising through the canal. C-Breeze is kept at Green Turtle Bay, and as Mike pointed out, just a short distance to the port after you come though the canal. I'd be happy to take you by land for food/supply provisions if you need anything. Depending on the dates, I might be able to head upstream with you for part of your journey.

hello all,
not sure how these days work but it's the only days linda and i have available, so, with that in mind, i just booked sept. 19th arrival and departing on sept. 26, 2010. staying at two rivers resort campgrounds, next door to campers world, on music valley drive, nashville tn. happens to be down the street from the byrdman's brother-in-law's sport's bar.
looking forward to seeing the local's, byrdman, c-pearl and jim and sandy and other c-brats friends. byrdman said drinks are on him, not sure if that meant he has spilled drinks again or he is buying.
see ya soon.

Hi Pat
Thanks for Setting a date to get togeather with Friends, we have signed up for the NC C-Dory Cruise on Sept. 24-26. If we can move some other things around the first of that week we sure would like to be there being that Byrd Man is buying the Drinks & he has a good contack with the Owner of the Bar.

Looking forward to seeing who all is here when I return to the US. Flying out in the morning for a mission trip in Peru. I land in Nashville on Sunday, 22 AUG. I hate that I am going to be gone from 13-22Aug...but, this is an annual trip and has been planed for about 11 months now. I am looking forward to the mid 60 degree weather in Peru but will for sure miss my boat, my carpet and my clean bed.

See yall upon the return trip.... Maybe a 6pm meeting at The Score Board on either 22nd or 23rd????? Yes, I have 1st round....and with Pat's ability to work out for 2 hours at a time....we will let him get the tab for rest of the first two hours.... :beer

Now, talking with Brother Mike Byrd....GYPSY crew member, we talked about setting up a "possible" Cumberland River Cruise this fall during the time when the color is on the trees.....which, Mother Nature picks the dates on that. So....yall look at your best fall foliage planing guides, figure out when the Nashville/Celina TN fall colors will be best....and pencil in those dates for about a 3 night 4 day trip..... a bit later in the year after the temp breaks a bit.

Curls to you all!!

Byrdman

jeff from c-pearl said to count him in!

Hey ever'body!
Just had a GREAT visit with Mike and Judy Tayor (Papillon). They spent a few days with Brenda and I here in Mt. Juliet, Tn. Ya'll can catch some pics Mike took on the left side of the home page labeled "road trip". Had a lot of fun!!!
The Nashville trip is approaching and thought I'd see what progress has been made. Looks as though Brenda and I are set. Just let us know if anyone needs a spot to shower, stay over or whatever. Byrdman got back in town from the Peru gig today so I am SURE ya'll will be hearing from him soon!
C Ya'll soon,
Mike

Carl,
Forgot to say we live a short hop from Creekwood by water, so if that info helps, let us know if we can do anything for ya! Be safe and look foward to seeing ya'll!

Hello Carl!
Ya'll are having a good trip so far it appears. Demopolis is a really popular spot and plans were in the making last Feb. when we were there for a huge expansion. Wonder how it is progressing?
Carl, I may be wrong but the gathering at Nashville is kinda hinged on you!!! Someone correct me if I am wrong! Byrdman, C-Pearl, Life of Riley and several others have shown intrest so keep us posted here or on the blog! Be safe and enjoy the locks!
