The weather has been great and I am getting all my little projects done before putting the boat in the water. I noticed the cabin door lock on our boat looks like it has oxidation. Does anyone know how best to clean the lock?

I looked it up on the Troving web site. The lockset is stainless steel and the cylinders and handles are finished in polished chrome.

Tough one. An oxalic acid paste, rubbed gently on the stainless, may work against the rust and oxidarion of the stainless. But the lock innards ... man, I don't know! hit that part with Corrosion Block or similar to keep the oxalic acid out. Some fine wet or dry paper say 400 or so, along with Corrosion lock in lieu of water, on the chrome may do it.

Corrosion Block (many equivalents out there).

I use Prism metal polish and my wife's toothbrush. I also have tried a new metal polish Collinite 850 with decent results. Just buff with rag and a rubber tipped detail brush.

Use WD 40 shot directly into the lock. That lubes the inside of the lock and makes it work easier.
