Trailering a C-Dory, Trailer only

How do you weigh your boat. Its always been my habit to go to a local grain elevator but now, with the recent Agway Bankruptcy, they're all out of business.

Hi Donald, sorry I missed that question earlier. I've stopped at weigh stations that are not busy along the highway, local gravel pits, and I believe for those weights above, at a truck stop CAT scale. The nice thing about the CAT scales is you can get separate axle weights if you position the truck and trailer just right. That is, I can get a front truck axle, rear truck axle, and then the trailer axles together. For the tongue, I put together a fulcrum using my bathroom scale.

Thanks WCF for the clarification with the wrong cargo carrying capacity numbers I reported on the new 2025 F-150 trucks. Goes to show that you cannot always believe everything you read. Colby, thanks for the weight distribution hitch link and the reminder to make sure that your boat trailer is rated for the extra weight it puts on the trailer. Gary
