Hello,

I have a bunk trailer for Absolutely (25 Cruiser). I do not have any trailer bunk guides on..,yet!! It is hard to guide her on the trailer (centered) without rubbing the hull against the trailer wheel guards.

I have questions on which trailer hull guards to get. The 24 inch bunk style guide on type or the roller type. I load the boat onto the trailer one manned most (80%) of the time.

It looks like the 24 inch bunk style guide on type may be better for centering the boat onto the trailer.

Your experience would be appreciated.

Is that the length or height above the trailer? If it's the length, you might find longer ones more useful.

I/we have owned our share of boats.

Each came with a little different set up for trailer guides, however the last boat has by far the simplest and most effective.

Centers the boat and loads perfectly every time, with or without help.

AGREED!

In fact, I like the centering bunk guides (also called "guide-ons") even a bit taller for very steep ramps, with the top of the bunks just below the rubbing strakes.

They should be set about 1-2" wider than the boat to center it correctly.

Someone here also invented some blocks used down near the rear corners of the trailer that contact the boat chines as the trailer is pulled out, doing a final centering of the hull very exactly!

Check out my post for the "Trailer Boat Centering System". Also notice the vertical guide post. The vertical guide post are plastic and the blue covers were bought from Overtons.

I always had a problem centering my CD-25 and once it came down on the fender and broke the fender board which I had to replace.

The Trailer Boat Centering System is listed on my posts as damason.

Hope these ideas help.
 
Daves system is excellent. We found even the side bunks on the 25 had to be almost "tight" to prevent the boat coming down on the trailer. The bottom just fits between fenders, unlike the 22 where there is lots of room.
 
I did a little different take on the trailer guides-ons, which has worked out well for me. The long rail or bunk type guide-ons from the factory are good, but I added a pair of blocks contoured to the hull at the very back of the trailer to pretty much insure the positioning of the boat and eliminate virtually any sidewaysmovement when traveling on the road. The blocks are slotted so any adjustment is easily made.
