I have always wanted a C Dory to enjoy on Table Rock Lake, Mo. I now want to trade my pride and joy - a 1978 beautiful Scout II - I am ready to chose between two loves. I am recovering from ankle replacement surgery. Please let me know if interested. I never thought I would ever part with my scout, but at my age and medical condition, I want to spend my remaining quaiity time on a DORY on TABLE ROCK LAKE. My name is Dennis Sigmon at 707-481-6659.

Sorry to be dense but what is a scout? Pictures would be helpful to those that may be interested as well.

Good luck.

I believe Dennis is speaking of the International Scout II 4 weel drive work horse....

One of the ruggedist 4x4's ever built! I drove one for many years in Michigans Upper Peninsula. The salty winter roads finally did it in. High torque engines, Solid Axles and steep approach angles allowed the venerable truck to take you places lessar vehichles could only dream about. Think of a scout as the C-DORY of the 4X4 world. Actually a C-Dory towed by a Scout! Hmmm...

Hi,
How does that stack up against a new Kia? How much would you be willing take for that Scout? Was that made by The International Harvester Company? What year is it? What color?
D.D.

In what condition is the scout? Unless it is meticulously and fully restored, my suspicion is that the value will not approach the value of most C-Dories that come up for sale.

A scout is everything a Kia is not. Unbeleiveable off road, can pull other vehicles out of deep snow without hardley depressing the gas peddle and , oh yea, about 12 MPG!!

a quick search of craigslist nation wide show scout being sold any where from $500 to $8000 and the 8k one was over priced. most were in the $2500 range in really nice shape. if you have that and 45,000 i will trade you my boat.

Hi,
I'm thinking maybe we need a new dream forum. :? This is getting crazy. Where do you get parts for a Scout these days?
D.D. :?

I had a 75' scout 11 with a 304ci. Tough little rig. It was clean (probably not as nice as yours) and I sold it for $2400. The previous postings are right. You are going to have to throw some money in on that trade for a decent Cdory.

Dennis,

I will be honest and kind. Scouts were wonderful 4x4s with a great history of being tough and capable. Unfortunately, one can buy a very nice one for about 5 thousand dollars. And truth be told, they are a great value at that price as they are a good rig for hunting and wheeling. On the other hand, one is very lucky to run into a decent CD 22 for 25 thousand. A good old but well-kept CD 16 will be at least 10 thousand normally and most of the time much more. As you can see, unless your scout is something extremely special, the comparison of values is not even close. And because of this, I think most C-Dory owners would be reluctant to trade. But with that said, good luck in finding what you want, and have a good one.

Tim

Thank you for the comments - By the way I did not know how to post pictures, thus no pics; however, no use in continuing. Thank you for your kindness.
