Very good towing tips and worth a moment of everyone's time.

I recently got caught up in this when I go my new to me boat and assumed that the hitch on my 2500 Suburban was up to the task. A closer look at the sticker on the hitch, showed that the carry weight was only 5,000 lbs and with an equalizing set up it would be rated for 10,000 lbs. My ball mount was only rated for 6,000 lbs and the ball was only rated for 5,000 lbs.

My new boat is 7,000 lbs and the trailer is another 1,000 lbs, so all of those hitch parts are being replaced to class four rating.
