Margaret wants a port wiper switch on the port side that she can control.

Where would you install a double switch?

I guess sitting on your lap is not an option? :lol: But seriously, there's not much vertical space on the port side dash. The small vertical piece the comes down from the edge of the dash is probably wide enough for a small switch but if it isn't, I'd be inclined to add a small mounting block under the dash on the far port corner.

Roger;

The verticle piece is wide enough. However, it has a varied thickness If the thick area below the dash is hollow I could mount it there. If it is not I would have to mount them in a less desirable position. I guess my question should have been is there hollow portions of the vertical support. I could drill a small hole from the berth side but, I was hoping someone already had and could tell me before I put another hole in the boat.

where to install it? I'd recomend Elfin Cove, it will give you something to putter around with in the evening :)

I'm not near my Tomcat right now but I have drilled a hole or two through the dash for cable installs. My recollection is that the dash is for the most part constructed from a single piece of similar thickness fiberglass and that the vertical section that runs from the port side to the helm is approximately 1/4" thick glass.

Sorry, I'm not being very clear with my question. The piece that I'm talking about is attached to the port side of the boat and runs to the floor from the dash. The thickness varies from single 1/4 " to very thick.

BC Ken,

We'll see you in August to transport Bud's TomCat to Ktn. It looks like we'll be there around the 12th. How is Joe doing, Bud saw him and noticed that he lost alot of weight and that he is selling both lodges?

Hopefully (for this advice) the Tomcat cabin is remarkably similar to the C-Dory 25.

I mounted a port wiper switch directly above and behind the port wiper motor. I made a bracket out of a piece of aluminum angle and mounted the bracket to the overhead bin/shelf. Easy to cut into the correct wires and splice the switch in and you don't need any new wires. Remember there's a hot wire running to the wiper for parking, so check the type of switch in the instrument panel.

I also disconnected the original panel switch, since it's now Judy's job to keep the port window clear. Gives me an extra switch and simplifies the wiring.

It's also be nice to install a center window wiper.

Thanks for all the responses. I think that I have it figured out and will post photos after the install. I'm also installing bilge pumps in the forward sponsons.
