Tomcat 255

Well, I am bringing a new to us TC 255 home to Annapolis in a couple of weeks. I spent the weekend in Apalachicola, FL
with the very gracious Mark Grove of Wefing's Marine. He had a Tomcat on consignment and after checking it out, I bought it.
She is a great boat and is well equipped with a/c and a generator. She is very clean for a 2006 and has twin Honda 150's on it.
It is quite a boat to get my head around after the CD 16 and my current Trophy.
Kathy and I look forward to doing extensive cruising on the Chesapeake. We have looked forward to this purchase for a long time.
Marc is a great guy and introduced me to Franklin County tap water as well as some of the best oysters I have ever had.
Thanks Marc. I would advise getting in touch with him if you are interested in a C-Dory or Ranger tug.
Thanks Marc for a great weekend.

Way to go Bill :thup Welcome to the TomCat litter. There are several extensive TomCat albums and threads on here to use for inspiration. Thataway, Napolean, Meant to Be, Dreamer come to mind. Ask on line here or PM anytime.

Congrats, Bill! That TomCat is going to feel absolutely opulent. It will be great for your Chesapeake cruising. :thup

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Thanks Bill , I enjoyed spending the time with you as well .That is a great boat and you will enjoy it ! Thanks for the kind words!
Marc

It was an '06 with Honda 150s originally sold by Bulldog in Ft Meyers . It had a gen, air, and vacculush installed . A great southern style boat . It will get an autopiltot next week .
Everything was cleanly installed .
I guess I shoulda called ya. Let me know when you are ready !

So I'm hauling the TC 255 back from FL to Md in a couple of weeks.
Any ideas on where to stop and spend a night besides a hotel. A campground would
be nice, as long as it had the amenities. I'm thinking SC or NC so we could make the final trek home,
the next day.
Thanks,
Bill

Bill, I made that trip with THATAWAY last August from Pensacola to Virginia. We didn't stay on the boat tho but at a motel in Greenville SC. You might be able to stay in a Walmart parking lot!

Charlie

Hey Charlie:
Pensacola is about 100 miles farther west than Apalachicola, but you are maybe 100 miles closer than me.
Is Greenville about 1/2 way for a trip like this?
I don't think I want to stay in a parking lot and maybe a hotel is the best alternative,
just looking for ideas. Thanks.
Bill

We stayed in a nice campgound in Brunswick Ga. just off Rt. 95 pool nice showers etc. Called Coastal Campground 287 South Port Parkway Brunswick, GA 31523
(912) 264-3869
D.D.

Another thought is we usually leap from Brunswick,Ga to about Ashland Va. sometimes getting another campground in that area. None I can recommend there even though we stayed in some. Just about twenty miles noth of Ashland,Va we go east to Rt.301 to avoid the Washington area roads and the worst drivers south of Boston. That will run you up the back way to Rt.50 for us a much more pleasant ride. Be careful of the red lights on rt 301 there are many equipped with cameras. Don't ask me how I know that. Safe Travels.
D.D.

Yes, 301 is the plan. Since we're coming from/going to Annapolis, makes more sense that trying to
negotiate NO. Va. 95 traffic. Thanks for the tips. Will check them out.
Did you buy your boat from Marc?

Yes we purchased from Wefing's in 2009 our boat was from Bulldog also. We go to the Florida Keys with the boat every year for a month or so. We come down from Pa. (25 miles northeast of Philadelphia) to Rt 301 in Delaware to avoid Baltimore, Washington D.C., all the beltway buttheads and a lot of the tolls in Delaware and Maryland.

Greenville was a little over halfway. Hotel would be a lot simpler IMHO. Go 85 to 95 then 295 around Richmond to 360 then up thru Tappahannock to 17 then up 17 to 301. when are you making the trip? We're in Downeast Maine right now but will be back that way mid June.

Charlie

I usually drive from Eastpoint to Rocky Mt. NC . Stay at the Hampton, then on to Annapolis ,via 207 to 301.But I usually drive alone and have a big tank. Carry alot of fuel too.........

Bring this up with recent events. A little wordy, but been on the road all day. Kathy and I went to Apalachicola via a visit with her cousin outside of Amelia Island and a visit to our son outside of Orlando. Then on to Apalachicola. Mark was delivering a boat over the weekend, so we had arranged for him to leave the Tomcat outside so I could pick it up on Saturday. Brought it back to Apalachicola and launched on Sunday for a cruise on the Apalachicola Bay. Very nice. Drove it back to the Water Street Hotel where we had a slip. Nice hotel on the water. The boat is great. handles great, should be a great Chesapeake Bay boat, and very well equipped and very clean for a 2006. Everyone at Wefings said it one of the cleanest they have seen.
Now on the road and bedded down in Walterboro, SC, as far as we could make it.
Be back in Annapolis tomorrow.
Pulling with a 2010 Dodge 2500 Hemi and all is going well. Mileage sucks, but oh well.
Be on the Bay this weekend. Yea.
Thanks Marc for everything. Need a C-Dory - call Marc.
Thanks,
Bill
