Had the tilt control quit working on our Honda 75 hp. Neither the rocker switch on the motor head or throttle switch will work. Had to pull out of the water and manually lift the motor. The wiring diagram shows a relay which I could not locate. I checked all fuses but apparently the tilt motor just has a relay. Both worked fine this morning. Any ideas?

Other than that, had a fun day on Lake Powell today... 70 deg, sunny, yet windy with a frontal passage. Our first time on the water with our "new to us" C-Dory.

You know you are hooked on this website when you start answering your own posts. The fix in this case is to replace the tilt motor. Is there a good internet supplier of Honda or aftermarket tilt motors? In the process of determining the problem, I did learn how to manually raise and lower the motor. I also learned that the tilt motor will operate until replaced by tapping on it will holding the rocker switch.

Ken, try this site

Let us know how it works...

Or you could contact one of the many Honda/C Dory dealers and ask them . Almost like "shopping locally "

I removed the tilt motor and took it to an auto electric shop. They rebuilt the motor for $20. It is re-installed and works fine. Sure beats $282 for a Honda replacement, however I will have to deal with the guilt of not pumping more money back into the economy.

Rumor is that Homeland Security is now looking for you. Seems like you have to have a commercial license to pull and rebuild tilt motors. Looks like you get at least two weeks in the electric chair.

I just couldn't live with all that guilt...

The government is presently occupied trying to figure out what happened to 500 bazillion tax dollars at the moment, so I'll be under the radar for a few days.
