I'm cleaning out the Tom Cat, getting ready for Lake Powell. Previously, I had divided the hanging locker in half with a shelf but the lower half was always a mess -- disorganized and hard to get at stuff. I did some research and decided to go with some boxes from GetStorganized.

Their website is very difficult to get sizing information from, so I contacted the company and received from Theo an Excel spreadsheet back almost immediately, with all the info. I asked Theo where I could buy locally and when he found out I lived in Anacortes, he suggested I contact Phil, the manager of the local West Marine, who I know. Turns out West carries a few of the sizes I needed, but not all. I bought what they had and special ordered the rest.

This morning I received an email from Theo telling me that West Marine's corporate offices would not permit the special orders, but that the boxes I needed were at West Marine and I should just send a check to GetStorganized's corporate office in Ellensburg.

Wow! Theo has been incredibly helpful and all for an order of less than $150. I believe he personally delivered my boxes from Seattle to the WM. So the boxes are a bit more expensive than your Wal-Mart brands but the quality is much higher (snaps on all 4 sides of lids, great plastic, etc.) and the service can't be beat.

:thup :thup

From what I can see, looks great. Some pictures don't show up though, until I mouse over them. And there is no picture of the one marine product, something called a fender step..

No question, their website needs a major renovation! I ended up not using it at all -- just used the spreadsheet.

Just sent him an e-mail and asked for the spreadsheet, also asked him if I could share it with 3000+ C-Brats...

The owner gave me permission to share his video with you but is concerned about competing with West Marine which is his only outlet here so far.

He said that Boater's Pal SnapTainers and Brackets can be purchased at the following West Marine stores: Bellingham, Anacortes, Port Townsend, Everett, Seattle (Westlake Store), Bellevue, Tacoma, Bremerton and Portland.

So far they are not available elsewhere. If enough of us ping on West Marine, maybe we can get some too. It looks like a very useful product and I'm gonna try to figure out how to get some!

I have NO connection whatsoever with this product, the outlet or West Marine (other than dropping mucho $$ there over the years)

I have no problem with buying GetStorganized from WM, and in fact did buy some of what I needed from what WM had at their Anacortes store. Unfortunately, that video is misleading because WM's corporate office does not carry and will not special order all the sizes shown, some of which I needed. I would hope that WM does not penalize Boater's Pal (their marketing rep, I think) for this.

More important than the video is the spreadsheet so you can search for boxes by size. Did you work something out with Boater's Pal for uploading the spreadsheet?

Warren I have not gotten it yet but expect to. Here is Theo's comment from his mail to me last night wherein he sent me the video.

"I will send you our product price sheet, I will work with you directly to take your order and I will deliver whatever you want to Anacortes...please call or email me. However, as a precaution, we can't let our product price sheet go out to others as we will end up competing with West Marine. "

Personally, I feel that if WM won't carry all of his things or special order them he should have no worries but have to let him decide what to do.

Anacortes is a long drive for me... :crook

Charlie,

They are carried by a subset of West Marine stores in the NW but not many. I've corresponded with the owner of the company on a few occasions about the need for them to have a good web site and to sell the products directly. I had an email from the guy a couple of months ago that their web site was being re-done. Since that time, the web site - http://www.getstorganized.com- has gone from terrible and marginally useful to a stub that is being worked on. I think the guy has some really good ideas but must have difficulty managing the business side of things.

Yes Roger, I got another e-mail from him. They are working on the website, he admits it's terrible. Apparently WM does carry a couple of things but not many. The Fisheries site has some good pix and descriptions of his things.

I have used some of those for awhile now. They work great in the ice chest to keep food out of the ice water.
