The wind is here

Same here Roger, but no ash. We've been building a gasebo (forever it seems), had all the power equipment covered nicely last night. This morning not only are they uncovered, can't find all of the covers! We're going to continue if we can, but looking like at least 30-40 mph winds outside. But warm at least. 8)

Well, you guys sure did send the wind down here. This morning the entire city of Ramona is being evacuated due to one of the many major fires surrounding San Diego. We're getting a stiff breeze as close as three miles from the ocean, it was 73 degrees at 3am and the humidity is single digit. We've got the strong smell of smoke and ash dropping right here near the ocean.

San Diego Wild Animal Park is definitely threatened and authorities are gearing up to evacuate hundreds of exotic animals. Santa Ana winds up to 85 mph are fanning the flames. Smoke is causing fog like conditions on Interstate 5 and Interstate 15 is closed north of Escondido. Interstate 8 Westbound is closed in the east county due to high winds and several major east/west feeders are closed.

Weather forecast sez at least two more days of high winds and low humidity, the fire is moving extremely fast. This is worse than the Cedar fire a couple of years ago and has the potential for extraordinary damage. Fire suppression has been stopped in many areas because of lack of resources and the effort is turning to rescue and evacuation

Gonna be a wild ride. I worry about JourneyOn. Boris is in a very vulnerable area....

Don - I know what it is like to be in a forest or brush fire. I have fought a few from as small as 25 acres to a 6,000 acre fire. Nothing like what you people down there are dealing with, but non the less, scary at the time. I hope every thing works out the best for you and all involved.
