The Upper Ocklawaha

This year when I head for Acosta Creek Harbor on the St Johns, I plan on going up through the lock and exploring as far up the Ocklawaha as water depths will allow. Does anybody know of a source for information on water depths, landings, etc., on the Ocklawaha? Is there enough water to get a C-Dory that has a draft of 22 inches up to Eureka, or the mouth of the Silver River, for example?

I was wondering the same thing .MIke (Pappion) is coming down today to visit for Thanksgiving he and Judy live up in Astor hopefully he might know how far up one can go

I know years ago you could go from Lake Griffin (Leesburg)all the way to Jacksonville and the intercoastal waterway There was a group of boaters that would do that run every year

I have been planning this trip for a few weeks and from what I can gather it is possible to go from the St John's River up (south) the Ocklawaha River to Lake Griffin through Haines Creek to Lake Eustis to Lake Dora to Lake Apopka. There is another lock between Silver River and Lake Griffin.
My plan was to launch at SR 46 at Lake Harney. Then go as far up the Ocklawaha as I could then call my buddy to bring the trailer over to the nearest ramp. I am planning a Monday through Friday trip sometime in the next month or two.
Kingfisher Maps has a chart of the Harris Chain of Lakes. http://kfmaps.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=17
