The Ultimate "How Do I Post Pictures Thread"

I've been watching the various posts throughout the years, from helpful C-Brats trying to explain how to include pictures in posts. It's great that everyone has helped out in this area, but quite frankly, I cringe every time I see another set of instructions. Reason being...with a couple of simple nerd tips and a non-brain-dead browser, it is sooooo dang easy.

So, without further ado, here's the ultimate nerd method. Works on Windows, Linux and Mac.

Pre-Requisites

1. If you have yet to become enlightened, Get Firefox

2. Click here, and install the BBCodeXtra Extension. You'll need to restart your browser.

Note: This extension is a huge benefit, when using sites that utilize BBCode. We'll use one small part of it to demonstrate how easy including pictures in posts can be.

Procedure

1. Find a picture online, somewhere. Typically, it's an image in one of our albums, but it can be virtually any picture online. Hover your mouse, directly over the picture. Right-click, then select "Copy Image Location"

2. In the edit window of a new post, position your cursor where you want the picture to be located. Then once again, Right Click your mouse, and select "bbcodeXtra --> Clipboard --> Image"

3. There is no step 3.

After doing the above, the proper BBCode will be in the edit window, and will look similar to the following. Finish editing, click Preview until you like the results, then post!

..and dat ain't a pretty sight....
OK, so much for that, now on to the big red letters....

OK, thanks again, and now I'm back to trying something over, again. Maybe with this I can get the LT to work.

I would like to post a few pictures. I have pm'ed Da Nag and Tyboo a few times requesting an album but have never received a response. I must be doing something wrong and I am sure someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks

Uh, you HAVE an album! It is right here but it is empty! Upload some pix!

Bringing this back to the top. Do these directions still apply and will they work with Vista?

I really will try and get this right.

Should be fine...but I've never used Vista or Windows 7.

The method I documented above is specific to Firefox, and as far as I know, is OS agnostic. I know it works on Mac, Linux and XP.

Well, maybe a Fire Fox means something different out there in CA than here in TN. Went to a nice lodge on the lake and saw a wonderful fire fox. Planted right there by herself on the hearth enjoying a nice big ol glass of port. However, Sherryl was not into the gig of me taking this sweet little 30 year old home with us just so I could post pictures easier on the C-Brat site. But, she did allow me to sleep indoors last night.

I'm just saying.... :teeth

Would it be correct?.... to rephrase that to read.....but, she did allow me to sleep indoors ALONE last night....

OK lets see if this works.

I think it's gotta be on the 'net, like in dropbox or something akin to that, not on your hard drive. Or in your album on cbrats with an http: ahead of it. There is also a special album that is open to anyone to post to that you can load with pix and post from.

Yes, the image you want to dispaly needs to be somewhere on the internet, not on your harddrive. You need to upload it first. If not in your C-Brats album then in Photobucket or wherever. It could even be an image from an advertisement on Amazon or some other site. But you need to right click and copy its location, which is the URL for the actual image, i.e., the extension will be .jpg (an image) not .html (a webpage).

On a Mac, it is not "Copy image location," it is "Copy image URL." Means the same thing of course. It is just as easy to enclose the image URL in tags with the Img button.

And there is no magic about Firefox. Chrome if fine and dandy.

Just paste your image URL into you message, highlight it, and click the Img button, next to last button on right, between List= and URL.

You already know what it will look like from Da Nag's posts above.

And yes, that is Dave Livingston up on top of the plug for a Ranger Tug!

I am not an expert--and use a MAC--but you do need to have the http://www. at the first at the end is usually jpeg--but I believe that tiff and some of the other open source compression analogues also work.

OK, let's try this:
1. right click on the picture. You will see a whole list of headings
2. Left click on "View Image Info", You will see lines of info, one of which is highlighted.
3. Copy the highlighted line by right clicking on it and then left clicking on "copy"
4. Now just go to the thread on the C-Brats. Go down to the last comment in the thread and click on "reply". Look above the empty box and left click on the little "img" box. will appear in the big box below.
5.Right click next to that [img] and click on "paste".
6.Go back up to the small "img". Left click on it and
will appear to the right of the line of stuff in the big box. Notice tha tthe second "img" is different from the first one.

We can do this. We're 16 footers!

Wow it worked.
I will say though my key was in down loading photo bucket -then the instructions worked.
To anyone who says its easy -- I will strongly differ
