The rare Sea Ham

Tom,

Nice shot. Right up there with "Thinker". Keep up the good work, and how about bringing the SusanE over to Sequim Bay and pose her with the Hawaiian Chieftian? Now there's a shot you won't get everyday :photo

Yeah if can recognize the inside of more then one eating / drinking house on the water you are spending to much ( or not enough ) time on your boat.

Don't anchor too close to the Hawaiian Chieftian: they are not very good seamen. Back in July they anchored fairly close to us in Echo Bay one afternoon. I noticed that they did NOT set their anchor, but simply dropped it overboard and payed out scope. As you would expect, we were awakened at 5:30 AM when they dragged into us. We got up and fended off, but it was only once I gave 3 long blasts on our horn that anyone came on deck. It turns out that the anchor watch was still asleep. Once we untangled their rigging from our boat (a Defever 60) I told them they were damn lucky that they had hit us, if they had missed us, the TV news would have lead that night with The Wreck of the Hawaiian Princess in Echo Bay since they would have been ashore in the mooring field if we haddn't woken them.
The crew was all hippies and the oldest one looked to be about 30 or so The "captain" was in his 20's, perhaps a trust fund baby with his toy? A real shame to see such a nice ship in such untrustworthy hands.

Marty, thanks for providing the link. Here is more info:

Hi Harvey,

You can order tickets for sailings online here: http://www.historicalseaport.org/store/step1.php, or call 800-200-5239 during business hours. Sailings require tickets. Dockside tours are free, though we request a donation of $3 a person.

Best,

Joe

Here is the response to a query re: the Hawaiian Chieftain access and activities that Joe sent to me. Don't think there would be any charge for running up along side and getting a picture of your boat there. :photo
