The Nashville Skyline Cumberland & Tennessee Rivers Crui

We were all ready to go Friday night I started up engine and we had a ignition coil code go off I found 1battery was down replaced it and still getting code hopefully the Mercury dealer will have a coil We still want to go hopefully we will leave Tue and get to meet in Nashville.??JimW

I replaced one of the batteries (27) and charged the other (27) So no more ignition codes coming up . We still have a fuel delivery problem all the hoses and filters are new and pick ups are only 4 months old . Engine ran today on separate 3 gallon tank so back to seeing where their is a air leak .I keep having to bleed out the air with the shrader valve on the fuel rail . Hopefully we can figure this out and get back on the water .
I was really looking forward to this trip .I redid the bearing on trailer put in a new shore power pro12 system and got my vehicle serviced for this trip . I hope everyone will have good weather and safe trip . Jim

6 boats are in Nashville for 3 days. So far all are doing well. The Cumberland has many faces. We will probably return next year to group River from Granville. The upper part is like the Smokey Mountains. Lots of “hollows”. Very down to earth folks!

We had a couple of cooler days, but now getting hotter. We probably will get some rain from hurricane Florence. Great c Dory owners. Fantastic locals. A friend of Mike & Pat Byrd gave us his 50’ reservation at the Nashville Dock! Angel made all sorts of new friends in the honky to Tonky district!

Bill E, new C Dory 25 owner is not only getting us slips at Commodore YC, but is going to provide a feast!

I was able to get an appointment with a hand surgeon at Vanderbilt for my crushed finger. He and his staff bent over backward to help us out! (As I was taking the Bimini down, A gust of wind slammed the frame on my middle finger,rt hand, almost severing it the day before we left for Alton.

Dr Bob hope your hand gets better . I’m still sorting out some problems hopefully it will get sorted out this week . Stay safe and I’m hoping for good weather for the group.Jim

I’m bummed I was looking forward to being up there with the group

Hi Jim, I just read about this trip a few days ago, We would like to made it also, I know you are agravaged that you could not go there maybe next year we can make it with You all. Jim (Pandy Girl)

An update:
After a fantastic barbecue provided by Bill & Sherry E at their Commodore Yacht Club of Nashville, (we are talking real Southern Hospitality!!! Also we enjoyed a dinner at “Skulls” with Bill & Sherry). the gang of 6 went down the Cumberland River to Green Turtle marina over the next few days.

Today we went onto Kentucky Lake and the Tennessee River. We had our first of many “wakings” by a large Searay who slowed to maxim wake speed of 14 mph!.

Great group, great people and fantastic boats. The C Dorys attract attention every where we go!

I’m glad you guys are having a great time .i guess I wasn’t meant to go My brother just went into Hospice we had just brought him out to Florida from California. We are hoping next year will be better for travel

How's the finger, Bob? We've been worrying about you!

Bill, we got a good report from the hand surgeon at Vanderbilt. It continues to slowly improve. Daily dressing changes and cleansing. I’ll be in the short splint for at least 3 more weeks. The hand guy in Nashville is a friend of the one I’ll see in Pensacola.

We have used the window air conditioner every day; temps have been in the 90’s!

Greetings from the Cumberland and Tennessee River Cruisers!
Fantastic scenery, rivers, company and D-Dories. We've had a great time. Hot weather, but we've learned a lot including how to plane a TC255 in flat calm river water at 15 MPH (with un-ganged separate throttle and engine trims). At 25 MPH she purrs like a lion and eats river miles for lunch.
Highly recommended. See America!
Will post pics when home with better bandwidth.

The remaining 4 arrived in Chattanooga this PM. Hard rain, and more predicted. Most beautiful part of the entire trip today. We are right downtown.

As the lock doors upended as we completed our last lock there was a C Dory!!!

It was Falcon, Bill & Brenda Russell! They are well and did their own Tennessee River trip. So good to see old friends!

We are down to 3 C Dorys, stuck at the Chattanooga docks. Jim Gibson was able to get his 22 out after swimming/wading up to their belly buttons and then winching the boat onto the trailer in the flooded parking lot. None on the rest of us is able to load under those conditions. The t
River has risen over 4 feet in the last day. There is an app for that!

All are safe and well; hoping for no more rain!

Bob, I have been closely watching this river situation for the last several days since I am planning on leaving Wheeler lake on Sat. 29th. for Chattanooga. The TVA Lake Level web. site shows a rise of approx. 2 ft' for Chickamauga lake. They show it is predicted to go down on the 29th. Could you please share the app with me so I can monitor it also? Do you see an improvement today? Thanks for the info. I have seen them close the river from Chickamauga Dam to Nickajack Dam due to currents.

So glad to hear Bill and Brenda are still on the water doing well. I was asking about them at the Mississippi gathering. Miss seeing them.
Also hope everyone was able to get their boats loaded. It's the other way at Lake Powell. Pretty low lake level. Was a bitch (again) launching the boats, but easier to load them. Colby

The “app” is “TVA LakeInfo.” I checked hourly all last night. The Chickamauga locks are closed until Sunday @ 6 pm due to construction. There is still a lot of debris and whirlpools in the Tennessee River. The swimming part of the full Ironman here on Sunday.

The river came up another 8” in the last 12 hours. The flooding has displaced a number of homeless living on the river banks under the bridges. We have gotten to know several. It looks as if the rains may have stopped.

We have a plan “B” which is to lockup to Lake Chickamauga & haul out there Monday as an alternative. No other nearby ramps for our boats.

Bob, Thanks for info. the TVA lake info. is what I watch, both the Operating Guide and Lake Levels. They show Chickamauga outflow is high now with Nickajack outflow and then Guntersville going up tomorrow with Wheeler going up Sat. As each goes up the one upstream is shown to go down so maybe as we start up the worst current will be coming down. These predictions do seem fast for bring this much water downstream so I shall just have to monitor it closely. I just don't like to fight high current below the dams and especially through the Gorge. Thanks again Ron
Will be glad to hear any thoughts you have on it for the next few days. Are you going on up to Knoxville or pulling out there?

So are you guys at a marina? Hanging out on the hook? How is the group dealing with an unexpected delay? This shows the problem with schedules when the weather does not cooperate!
